Getting tanked in Osaka

Postby Taro Toporific » Wed Mar 04, 2015 12:28 pm

The Sakaisuji Honcho Gas Station, a gas station tavern in Osaka, pumps lager beer as regular gasoline, black beer as diesel fuel, and chu-hi as light oil*.
To get tanked, you can fill up your glass from the refueling nozzles of the gas pumps in the main beer hall.

Hmm, I go by there all the time, but I've never even noticed this place (to be fair, I go down Sakai Suji, so I've never paid attention).

Might have to go, just to see what it's like.

They lose points: Regular is Asahi Clear, which is happoshu
High Octane is Super Dry
Diesel is Chu-hi
Heating Oil is Dry Black

(which also answers Taro's question)
And I will admit that the usual slang is to refer to real beer as High Octane. I just can't bring myself to accept happoshu as Regular.

This more recent trend to pass off Happoshiite as Draught or even just as Beer is really starting to bug me. It's like they've been broke so long their will has been broken.

OTOH, that looks like a fun way to go for a few.

In the real world... Light is liquid, heavy is bitumen... On the shaky rock, maybe a small variation on the flashpoint temp like for JP8 and JP5...
