The device is advertised as sim free (SIMフリー) but nowhere on the site does it mention "Unlocked"
I'm given to understand that SIMfree means that when the device is activated with a carriers sim card for the first time, the carrier can lock the device into its own service and it cannot be used with a different carrier's sim card until the first carrier unlocks it, after which it becomes an "Unlocked" device and cannot be locked again regardless of which carrier's sim card is used.
I've probably got it all arse about face as usual, but I'd like to get it straight before buying.
I don't want to be locked into Sofwank et.al for another two years and not be able to use the phone while out of Japan.
