Some kind of genetic flaw, I'd guess.

Why are (some ... er, many) women always trying to "read" men? And then the one time out of ten they get it right they take it as proof of their psychic powers. And when they don't get it right they still insist that they're right but the guy is lying about his true feelings.

A conversation I've had way too many times:

Her: You're angry with me.

Me: No I'm not.
(In truth, I am not ... have no idea WTF she's talking about).

Her: Yes you are! I can tell!

Me: No! I am not! If I say I am not, then I am not!

Her: Yes you are! You're just trying to avoid an argument!

Me: I AM NOT FUCKING ANGRY WITH YOU!!!

Her: See! I knew it!

Sheesh ... never again ...

Female chauvinism with a healthy dose of delusional hubris. For the record, it's not that we men can't do it too it's simply that we can't be bothered. We're too busy not gving a shiite

I'm can dig that sentiment, especially if you're once bitten, but it isn't quite the same in MYHOMO. Besides, you're not lying when you say that.

OTOH, I am seriously thinking that mendacity is the only fruitful route to root. The chicks within my age range I am meeting are shocking in their expectations, and they aren't bringing quite enough to the table to make me want to bother. Or to put it another way, far too many of them bring far too much of themselves to the table and spend far too much time at it eating far more than they should. But there is a ton of guys so desperate and emasculated they should do alright. Which is nice for them. I find it strangely edifying what a lot of very attractive men are willing to settle for. If only I weren't so shallow.

It's so lacking in any identifiable notion of proper masculinity it's quite refreshing and enjoyable. Not that I care to try it. But I have lots of FG friends that married richer Jpn girls and most are happy if frightfully lacking in testicular fortitude, except for the usual eternal adolescent variety of drinking and cheating and acting like a Perma-newbie English teacher. Which they are anyways.............

PS I mean intentional gold digging sackless men, not men that happen to marry women that happen to make more than they do. That's cool and edifying, but it isn't a girly man maneuver like gold digging is.

I used to think like that, then my now wife said I want to get married have kids and buy a house and I said "yeah OK" without thinking it through. I am now typing this while being attacked by a lego alligator.

The question you need to ask yourself is what are you going to do when you are old.

In my case I rationalised it away as a tax dodge - which it was at the time. And yeah, what are you going to do when you get old is a good question. Some people say that there isn't a problem - the money not spent on kids will pay for carers, care home and so on. True, but that still leaves the issue of power of attorney/someone defending your best interests and all that jazz. No guarantees either way but kids are likely a better bet.

If university was more affordable or there was a system of student loans here, I'd feel a lot more comfortable than I am. You are looking down the barrel of at least 5 million Yen per child. We'll do it and I don't resent it, but it's a lot of money.

5 million Yen per child is a gross underestimate, even when your child goes through public education only.

But yeah, money is a big reason why many young people do not reproduce.
