I had a Honda Pilot and turned it in after the lease because I had no job, and now I'm leasing a loaded RAV4. This sucker is easy on gas and even has an eco mode to save on more gas.
It also has a sport mode which tightens the brakes and suspension and the sucker SUCKS gas, but BOOOOOOOY is it fun to zip around.

I'm still going to get a Honda Pilot again to buy after this lease is up.

You are actively trying to punish someone with your automotive choices ?

Because:
Choko's traviq-> near hand me down so ok
Me-> wanted minivan+offroad+jdm so 1 choice only
Yokohammer-> midlife crisis official pace car so it was either a BMW or a Miata

But for SUVs... There is a bit more choices... Most of them maybe easier on the eyes... And all of them technically superior in one way or another.

Yesterday I was reminded that I must be insane because I own now 1, not 2, but 3 vehicles and live in Tokyo. The Traviq is the best vehicle I never wanted. I actually enjoy driving that bitch.

gaijins around my neighborhood, probably most of them are yokota air base guys, always ride 2 or 3 former generation gritty japanese sedans.
seems like they really like sedan which is regarded as jiji's car among japanese natives, though.

Crap 家具

Getting back to the original topic of tasteless "house-makings" aka crappy kagu
Time To Chill On Some Bread Chairs
Japanista.com / April 2015
...
Nitori offers a line up of bread themed furniture which has become a popular series. These bread chairs are reclining and can be set to 5 different angles...available on Nitori website, for a decently cheap price of ¥3800...more...

Katsuhisa’s idea is based on the belief that buying furniture is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Traditionally, when two people in Japan marry, the family of the bride buys all their furniture, and in this context a place like Otsuka makes sense, since it could help couples coordinate their purchases.

Those doll sized study desks drive me bonkers. Give me a piece of plywood propped up on some cartons for shelves any day.

LOL

It's the same old story where the "we Japanese quality and attention to detail" has given way to made in China...yet packaged, marked up, and gives you "the service experience" of old  (and what's the point of a membership if it's "a once-in-a-lifetime event?")
