I am pretty sure I was still in Canadian logic mode when I read the sign and thought: Seems Fair Enough.

Is it the general vinegar and piss atmosphere this stuff often engenders or do people actually think it's okay to be an illegal alien? Allowing that it's a painfully trivial issue hardly worth the printing costs one doesn't have to know much about Japanese to know they'll get downright frothy over something like that. Which is kinda funny given how many of Them like that there are in Vancouver, NY and LA, etc.

It's the general atmosphere that these signs provoke that make them hard to swallow.

Gotcha. I totally get that sentiment. In that case, add in the numerically trivial number of cases anyways (~~~200,000 people???), and Yes!! to that.

'Auslander raus!'

Postby Yokohammer » Mon Jun 08, 2015 8:38 am

The issue is, what is the point or purpose of hanging bloody great campaign banners in public places?

One can easily assume that immigration wants to get the public involved in a "turn your suspicious foreign neighbours in" campaign, although they'd never admit to that, otherwise they could simply do the necessary investigations quietly by themselves.

Even if the public does not actively get involved, negative PR like this will certainly exacerbate the general feelings of suspicion towards foreigners. It'll add impetus to the right-wing anti-foreigner machine too.

It is an insensitive tactic that is not likely to produce any meaningful results.

Raising public awareness about a public policy campaign that enjoys widespread legitimacy across the political spectrum? They've always been big on public education and information. I agree that it's mostly pandering window dressing, but it might ensnare a few illegals through a snitch campaign and while that isn't much bang for the buck it does please those who care about such mind numbing trivialities, and in that sense since both sides are making mountains out of molehills I call a Special Olympics dead heat. But I totally get what Russell is saying. Other than that, the mutual hysteria cancels out any problem or potential.

It's a bit complicated.

1. lowest voter turnout since the American occupation. Gotta keep our jobs and all that.
2. Too many people doing too little work for too little money in guberment. Gotta find an excuse to get dat overtime.
3. Mis Universe.

THIS x 999999999

Nearly every Japanese restaurant in LA was filled with Japanese (mostly students) working illegally. I heard about one bust, ever, and it was more of a case of a nutty ex-bf calling immigration. The friend I heard about it was not at the shop when the "raid" happened but she said they deported a few people and fined the owner.

Not entering (or not leaving) the country in a legal manner and working under the radar, sucks but dem is the rules. Not going to get offended if someone gets caught. On the otherhand, having a "June is Stop Illegals from working here campaign" month is just really nasty. They can be aggresive if they want but WTF are the details of this "campaign?" ...and where are the "Stop rape campaign" month? I 'm pretty sure the "Stop kidnappers campaign" and "Stop panty thieves campaign" months would go over well.

I applaud the idea, but the banners for those 2 latter ones would be gone before the first daybreak and up for auction on 2CH by noon next. :biggrin2:

All the Illegal in Japan types I have ever met were always entitlement addled shitheads anyways, so I might need a booster shot of sympathy, and I get the fatigue and distaste for the poisonous aspects of it but its not like they're alone in the OECD for doing that sort of shitty pandering. I think Canada is alone in not having or recently had a similar campaign; now, that doesn't make it right for them to join in but if anything it shows relative restraint compared to that recent UK White Van Man campaign

Image

And that is in an avowedly muticultural immigrant friendly nation :cry2: A couple of banners in places known for a concentration of not even supposed to be here types seems pretty mellow in MYHOMO. The thing to do would be to get down there with a bullhorn, some Nanbanjin pantaloons and some of those ANA ad campaign noses and scream campaign van worthy platitudes over and over and over and over..........and over. And then watch the positive comments roll in on Booobtoob.

I mean, there are tons of racist assholes in the US with too much time on their hands doing what you posted above, or more....but the whole gov. sanctioned "campaign against illegals" is just unnecessary and (as yoko noted above) unnecessarily adds to the "suspicious foreigners" mentality here...which is doubly silly, considering the "obviously foreign" white/black/brown residents are the smallest groups and the statistically less likely to be illegally in the country.

Yes, but the funny thing is you Whiteys are exactly the ones having small litters of spastic kittens about a very, very polite version of what happens elsewhere anyways.

Damn, is it that time of year to hang up the poster?

Does this poster or similar get put up in other locations (e.g. stations closest to other immi offices?).

Yanpa quickly checks earthly registration card as it seems an awful long time since the last visit to one of those

LOL SJ, I'll be the first to admit I look/act as white as they come. That don't cancel out my dad's culture/dna/etc though. I'm white and I'm brown....wasn't given any choice in either.

Kuro, you don't find it at least silly that they need to have an "illegal foreigners employment awareness month" and post banners for it at the nearest station to the immigration offices in Tokyo? (or that they need to spell out that the month of June is from June 1st to June 30th)

http://www.moj.go.jp/nyuukokukanri/kouh ... 00113.html

http://www.moj.go.jp/content/000111359.pdf

So it's basically an annual month long "campaign" to educated employers and prevent them from employing illegals....obviously very effective if they do it every year

I think I posted a picture of that banner or a similar one on here years ago. The other one they had up at the time that I liked said something like ルールを守る国際化

Of course I do. Just not as silly as a bunch of Olde Asian Hands that should know way, way better raging about the usual annual sillinesses. And again, Russell's bemused Feckin' Yare Yare aside, which I never, ever didn't feel at this time of year. And I will always have a soft spot for the meticulous detail in their ridiculously overdetailed public service announcements. Just because they end up looking silly to us doesn't mean it looks silly to them. They like detail. It's not news.

Q: June? Which June?
A: The one that begins on the 1st of it and ends on the 30th of it.
Q: Ohhhh, THAT June!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Naruhodo, ne.

Kawaeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

PS and just in case, you can be WTF you want and I will happily do a war dance for your right to be so.

I doubt it is government sanctioned. Do you suppose that Japan's official hardline against illegals is in any way related to its position on those seeking asylum?
