So then, Jez, what exactly is your problem with his saying a man to man encounter is "ick"? He said it was both un-PC and that it was his opinion, and the "man to man encounter" bit was inferred to mean a sexual encounter by the context of the previous lines in his post. Do you expect his opinion to change? Do you expect him to admit it is, by your standards, a small-minded thing to say? Cause I honestly have no idea what you meant to accomplish by commenting on it, as he most likely will not change his opinion and has already admitted in his statement that he knows others do not think like him, and you admit people have a right to say whatever they want. So what further then? You just wanted to jump on his ass for speaking such things aloud? What was your point in chiming in that he did not address in his statement?

Wow, I guess he wasn't serious about not going "back there." Way to celebrate diversity, Jez!

I thought we'd been through all this before...
Whether he'll change his mind or not isn't really the point(though if he does, great). The point is standing up for what what you believe in, which is what I did.
Ramchop said his comments were not homophobic. Howver, as you said, he mentioned 'PC', which suggests he knew what he was saying, and the homophobic quality of his comments.
As we pointed out, sodomy is not simply a gay man's activity.
At best, I would say Ramchop misrepresented his own opinions. However, as I have pointed out above, I feel he knew what he was saying.
This is beginning to sound like a trial, though I'm not sure who's on trial: me, or Ramchop?!

me! me! me! but please let me out on bail, I've got to go home soon.

Exhibit A:
http://www.dictionary.com
"wrong ( P ) Pronunciation Key (rông, rng)
adj.
Not in conformity with fact or truth; incorrect or erroneous."

Exhibit B:
http://www.urbandictionary.com
ick "ih-k"
something gross, a feminine way of saying "ew".
usage by men: only recommended if you are a homosexual.

So it appears that "ick" does not mean "wrong" (however, disturbingly it also appears I'm a closet homosexual  )

No one is on trial. Ramchop made a qualified statement and you responded to the qualified part instead of the subject matter. Instead of questioning his puported facts, you challenged his opinions. He obviously knew some would dislike his opinion and qualified it with an incorrect admission that was wrong (no opinion can be wrong, that's the great thing about opinions). You then took him to task for what was a pretty clear statement to me, thus I and others jumped in on his side as it looked from here like you were attacking his opinion.

Eggshell time for while I guess...

Yes, I chose to question his opinion. Opinions are free(freedom of opinion). It was my opinion, that his opinion was prejudiced. Therefore I questioned it. As for his 'facts', I chose to let others deal with them, if they so chose to. I was disturbed by his opinion. Is there anything wrong with being disturbed by someone's opinion?
I am not someone who can comment on every single aspect of every single post. Therefore I comment on what strikes me as most imporatant.

I never knew it was forbidden to criticise someone's opinion. It's not as if I've been curtailing his human rights...I mean I haven't threatened to have him arrested for speaking out

I'd rather discuss bumholes than politics with you any day.

And what's your definition of prejudiced? A similarly sensitive soul to yourself might argue that in your "fun with j-girls" thread you're prejudiced against all the happy k-girls who have grown up in Japan by excluding them from your potential playtime.

Man-to-man sex is not for me. But hey, maybe I'm ignorant (never tried it) as well as prejudiced (don't want to). Nowhere have I argued that homosexuals are lesser beings. In fact I even refuted Alcazar's tiresome logic as to why anal sex is wrong. It's not wrong. It's merely icky! (IMHO)

How long can we keep this going, I wonder...
Gay sex is not for me either...for now anyway. Or at least being sodomised is not. Sodomy, however, is not the only aspect of gay sex, and is not exclusive to gay sex. Perhaps you could have said(I believe you did in a later post), that you find sodomy disgusting. Or is it that you find 2 men together disgusting/immoral? In which case, it is perfectly acceptable to give your opinion(not that I would agree of course!).I think the problem I had, was that you were dismissing something without really being clear as to exactly what you were dismissing. In the process of doing so, I felt you were emitting prejudice.
By saying you were prejudiced, I was giving an opinion. You think I am thin-skinned, but it seems that many people here believe that in giving an opinion, I am attempting to censor. Who is being paranoid?

Not much longer.... what it boils down to basically is that you think I'm prejudiced, and I think I'm merely a bit uncouth when unnecessarily voicing my opinion on irrelevent things.
