Kodokushi: the 'lonely death'

Postby Taro Toporific » Fri Jun 26, 2015 11:41 pm

Stick with this long article; it's well worth it.

Kodokushi: In aging Japan, thousands die alone and unnoticed every year.
Their bodies often go unnoticed for weeks.

kodokushi...the “lonely death” ...
...With one of the fastest aging populations in the world and traditional family structures breaking down, Japan’s kodokushi phenomenon is becoming harder to ignore—not that the government and the Japanese people don’t do their best to sweep it under the carpet. Inaccurate statistics abound, with confusing definitions of what is and isn’t considered kodokushi being created in the process. According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, there were some 3,700 “unaccompanied deaths” in Japan in 2013.
Much more...

- no way. There was at least one person present at every death. And for those who died, I doubt seriously if it matters - just ask them if you disagree.

But seriously - who wants to die in a nursing home, or worse yet – in an hospice for the dying? Those are lonely places indeed. When I die, I want it to be in my house, or my yard, and I don`t care if what is left of me is not discovered for ages. Let the furry critters and bugs have a feast.

We'll wait.
Leave some fresh water to rinse the taste though...
Lemon grass seasonning can do marvels, but there's still some limit..

That's a good article. This topic has been quite popular the last several years.
