To be fair, I don't go barreling through at 35 when there is someone in front of me. That being said, what is this green light you speak of?

There are two I think - or did I dream it? The LED on the transmitter unit changes colour from red to green plus the gate itself has a traffic light panel on top of the transmitter gantry before the gate. It also changes from red to green when the unit in the car has successfully been read. Plus the unit beeps and unless I have turned it off a woman's voice tells you it has been read. Fairly comprehensive notification.

Maybe I am old fashioned but it just seems very poor driving to crash into anything that can reasonably be anticipated as an obstacle. Driving at any barrier at any speed with no concern whether it is going to open or not runs counter to my instincts.

You have completely missed the point. What you should be wondering is why there are any obstacles anywhere that hinder or impinge me from doing whatever I want, whenever I want, in any way I want, so long as other people obey the rules so that the I can achieve my goal of Total Freedumb.

I used to think that setting up a lawn chair at a busy on/off ramp and holding up scorecards for failures and FUps would make a fun Youtube video. Kyoto South was always a personal favourite. Oh, the hijinx they got up to. Maybe I am just old enough to remember causeway toll booths, but it really isn't that F'in difficult, allowing that I assume they somehow managed to balls up the ETC system so that it doesn't run quite as well as it could if they had read the f'in direction manual.

Hold on a second. We're not talking about on and off ramps? There's control gates or whatever on the expressway???? Shows how much I drive toll roads. Maybe it's the toll roads I did drive on (Hokuriku, etc.), but that was back before ETC was standard.

Especially around the big three urban conglomerates, there are gates mid expressway, on the swap over between Expressway Organisation W and Expressway Organisation O, and stuff like that.

Feck. I suppose it's necessary for tracking and toll charges, but ...........ffffffffeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk that must be a circus. Thank god I never had to drive anywhere more urban than Gifu or Kyoto.

Think of it like trying to exit Shibuya station on a friday night....only it's not an exit and it's with cars....

Overhead transmitters without the gates would be safer, faster and more "eco"

Yeah, yeah. I was dating myself there thinking it was an old style On/Off ramp issue, like when the Kora! Dokero! brigade in their LH drive cars would get stuck in the non-LH car booth lane and then go full chimpy because the 5 cars behind them didn't know instinctively we would all need to back up into oncoming off ramp traffic. That was like watching an HG Wells novel in real time. I miss those guys. Darwin's Refugees.............now there's a good Youtube idea.

I'm glad I don't have to drive but I have been on the expressways and those toll gates are fucking dangerous as hell. I remember seeing a compilation video of ETC related crashes on Japanese highways once but I'm too lazy to google it.

That has meaning - Not sure if it was their intention but:

For a good = For a good (thing or possibly product).

For good = Permanently or Forever

Maybe just luck, but I think it's quite good - as these things go.

A better reading than I can manage. Just Jinglish gibberish to me - Can't see the wordplay at all. I take it there a lot of golf courses in Jakarta and they aren't like golf courses in Japan. More coconut trees methinks. And big, bright flowers. And golden balls.

I was thinking in katakana and saw it as a play on "all" (オール) and "hole" (ホール). That might work with some English accents too ;)

Anyway, there's no info in Japanese other than 東京都. Very strange.

Thanks. Quite a complicated word play, Id say. Can't really see it working in any English accent though. No problem with dropping the h of course but the vowel sound will always be different.
