im stuck standing outside in the rain selling xmas trees 11 hours a day.... for every day up to and including xmas eve.

and my one day off, which was today, was ruined by the local ferries striking and me not being able to go to the mainland to have some 'fun' (i live on an island, yay  )

edit: and im not i Japan

i think my holidays might be classed as sucking

Not christmas, Xmas! The corporate-driven holiday of frantic spending!

Seriously, it's not religious for me anymore. I give gifts to show my appreciation to those I love (plus I really like giving people gifts, its fun!). Only them, and that's a short list. Also its a time for me to see family members I haven't seen in a while for a huge meal! Pretty much a family reunion preceded by a gift exchange with loved ones.

So, for Japan I change it to Happy New Year-mas!

Xmas is just another regular day for me, too, but New Years's...boy, now THAT'S A HOLIDAY!

...and I'll be spending that with the folks back home.

Ah Christmas in Japan....on the way home from work yesterday I managed to see the following Christmas decorations placed ever so strategically on someone's balcony: all rather large inflatable doll-like thingies (I believe that is the technical term, isn't it..."thingies"?!?!) of a reindeer, a snowman, Santa and that old yuletide stalwart.....Dracula
:jawdrop:

'Tis the season so GET'S MERRY CHRISTMAS right back at ya!

Hey, BB, how are you going to cook the turkey? Do you actually have a western-style oven at your place?

Bah! I say the hell with the Corp's(es) version of the holidays. I can live with "Happy Holidays" to avoid offending other religions. I just agree with not starting till around Dec. 5th or so. But friggin retail has to make the "Crappy Holidays" start before thanksgiving (in US), and that's just too much! But I do wish all here happy holidays and may you enjoy the few remaining days of 2003 and the first couple of days of 2004.

Eat, drink, be merry and drink some more, and may your New Year not start with wanting to chew your arm off!

How the hell did you find that? I didn't post it anywhere.. unless PyDS is publishing RSS of my pictures to various places?

It's in your HTML source:
[code]<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS" href="http&#58]
Yes, either your provider PyDS or more likely your commenting system of RadioUserland is giving you an RSS feed.
http://www.pycs.net/bob/pictures/rss.xml
If you don't want it you better start putting a "ROBOTS EXCUDE" tag in your HTML and remove that RSS tag . Your comments system says RSS all over the place and to quote your blog: "Subscribe to an RSS feed of this comment thread:"

But hey, you wrote many great blog posts. I'm glad I didn't rip off your picture and I always do. I found it through Feedster but your blog pops up everywhere through Google Image Search. http://www.pycs.net/bob/pictures/

Here's the feedster cache.

Well, my nascent blog might show up on google, but /pictures shouldn't -- because it isn't linked to from anywhere. I just started using that feature of PyDS this week (because I splurged on that newish Sony DSC T1). It doesn't really bother me either way, I was just wondering *how* it got circulated because I didn't explicitly announce it anywhere. Besides, if I wanted to keep something private, I sure as hell wouldn't put it on the public internet (on a community url, running on a server I don't personally control!).

Oh, and I'm not using Radio.. just PyDS hosted on PyCS.. all free/open source stuff (coincidentally written in Python, my current programming language of choice).

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Stuck in Japan for Christmas this year... Was going to go down to Okayama but it's just too cold to enjoy.

Ah well, the English signs are always entertaining. Couple of years ago a Christmas Fair of some sort was advertised as "XMAS FEAR"... Sounds very joyful.

Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the holidays.

A Cho-Beri Meri Kurisumasu to all. Love X-mas here in Japan; here they know what it's all about - sex and conspicous consumption (screw the "Put the 'Christ' back in 'Christmas'" crowd back in the states...). And here's a random X-mas present for some lucky FG. Be the first to post a truly funny, true "X-mas in Japan" story on this thread, and I'll send you a mix CD of (mostly) weird (mostly) Japanese music. The only rule - you have to be living in Japan.

Yoi, suta-a-to!

Image

And AK, some CDs for you are in the works, as usual.
There is nothing more noble than impassioned nonsense.
