The problem with this type of operation is that the customer has almost no way to tell the good from the bad. Puppy mills are often enough disguised as wonderful family operations. Unsuspecting costomers can pretty easily be deceived in view of cute puppies. And the "responsible breeders", who are organized in their associations and have their lobbies, are often enough not that much better than puppy mills.

I was not trying to suggest that all breeders are evil puppymongers, but by probability and even ethics the chances are pretty good they are, so go to your local pound, get a cute mutt and love and cuddle it. As somebody who likes doggies far too much to own one until I can without being selfish, I always implore people to avoid their silly trophy hounds and get whatever is already out there. Mutts is cuter anyways. There are so many purebreds out there that are so nauseatingly ugly and genetically fecked it is a testament to the malleabiity of the human mind and the wonders of self-inflicted delusion. I know people that think pugs are cute FFS.

Some breeds should be discontinued for humanitarian reasons. Bulldogs are a good example. We created unhealthy mutants through selective breeding who spend most of their lives sick and miserable because people think ugly is cute. Let ones who are already alive live but stop breeding them FFS.

I've never understood the attraction to dogs that snort because their snouts/nasal passaged are so fucked. One of the products I import here is for cooling dogs...and it's a huge problem with "breeds" like that....they are unable to cool themselves like other dogs and tend to drop dead of heat exhaustion in hot/humid places like Japan.
