No. I think we should pay them all minimum wage and not give them pensions or healthcare. As a matter of fact we should use conscripts who can't quit till they've done 10 years of service. That would save us lots of money.

 indeed. An office working temperature of 28 degrees is not unreasonable. A lot of workers would take it in a flash.

Have the aircon coolant replaced /topped the HFC134a seems to enjoy seeping out ruining the efficiency of the clinate control system.

So, after reading and checking yt videos.
The aircon temp work by duty cycle and fan speed.
The pump is on/off and the volume treated is engine speed dependant.
So at low rpm the pump might need 80-100% on for a given temperature while at high RPM only 50% on might be needed.

Quickly translated, if you are cruising at 1500 rpm, the pump need the coolant system to be at proper capacity since it might not have the luxury of more "on" time or higher rpms.
With the Mitsu and a diesel idling at 600rpm for cool aircon at the redlight, better switch to neutral and blip the throttle.

Seems 'Merkuns have a lot of DIY bottles for topping at home, the HFC134a is the same gas used for airsoft gas blowback guns sold in every toy shop. But never looked in hardware store for this...

Bottles and connector hose are available from Amazon. Use with care - overfilling is bad news and the crappy pressure gauge on the hose is not reliable. Worked okay on my aging Honda to restore cooling power though. Eventually. By trial and error.

Yep. Except that in my case after a can and a half the needle was just getting into the green zone when the the compressor became so hard to turn that the belt screamed a bit, then gripped and stalled the engine. I then had let some out bit by bit until I was still getting a good temperature reading while it still idled nicely and with only a bit of belt scream. Then I had to tighten the belt a bit cos I think it got stretched in the stall. I still have a bit of chirp from time to time but the belt is as tight as I am going to take it - A new belt is next when it gets worse again.

That was all summer 2012 and it's still cooling and going fine so well worth it.

You called?

Three elderly sisters in their 80s and 90s were found dead at their residence in Tokyo’s Itabashi Ward on Saturday. Police said they died of heatstroke.

The bodies of Naoko Kuratsu, 90, Toki Yuasa, 86, and Tomo Sakamoto, 82, were found in the bedroom and living room of their residence at around 10 a.m. Saturday, Fuji TV reported.

According to police, they had been dead for three to four days when their bodies were found. An acquaintance of their relatives, who lives nearby, was asked to check on them as the relatives had been unable to reach them.

Police said the sisters had lived together for about 10 years since their husbands passed away. When they were found, the air conditioner was not on and the room temperature was over 30 degrees.

Neighbors said the women did not like air conditioning and usually left it off.

The house was locked and there were no external injuries on any of the bodies.

I don't like aircon either. These spot coolers in unisulated rooms / homes can be pretty uncomfortable. It's nearly as bad in plenty of offices and older shops and restaurants. Now, a/c i have no problem with. A reasonably insulated building with a proper central a/c is quite a treat in this climate. Or Vegas. But the common local variant - the objections become somewhat understandable. Though I would prefer not to die to prove a point...

Need a fan in the room. Wall AC units without fan to mix the air are incredibly inept at their jobs.

Yep...heard a few other stories recently as well. Non-insulated concrete with lots of single pane windows...not exactly the same as traditional wooden structures with no glass and good cross ventilation.

One’s an incident, two’s a coincidence, and three’s a pattern...

Source? The only one showing up on the maps right now is way the fuck out in the middle of the Pacific. Or are you just talking about typical September weather?

There are three way out in the pacific that are heading in this direction. They normally don't come this far, but this year there's no guarantee. Something to do with the biggest El Nino ever recorded. The one you mention has already crossed the international date line and switched from hurricane to typhoon status. The others may (or may not) follow. There's also a cloud mass in the normal spawning ground for typhoons that hit Japan that the meteorological people are saying has a good chance of becoming a typhoon. All of this from this afternoon's weather report.

Yep, I heard we are in the most powerful El Nino on record, which means the surface this side of the Pacific is warmer than ever and so I suppose that means more rain and typhoons. :cry2:

Seas are warm, but there is a little cooler wall between 140 and 160 that might dampen them typhon coming west.

1- yes, no need to worry aboot reservoir levels and water restrictions.

2- no, humidity above 55% and I can't breathe, spend most of the day hyperventilating.
