It's getting better and better...

Sano (the so-called "designer") also is suspected to have copied and altered other images without permission as well.
The first photo was taken from a female foreigner's blog called "Sleepwalking in Tokyo" (and graphics of the Tokyo Olympics were added).
The background of the second photo was taken from a British guy's blog called "Randomwire" (he also has a large version of all the photos here.)

Almost all the J-comments on there are "ashamed/disgraced as a Japanese" I have no idea how "famous" Sano is but between this and the knock off music, they must feel they look like China.

As someone who does design, I totally grab shots like this from the web for internal visuals....but when it comes to something released to the public as a presentation, it's a big no no and hilarious that he even left the original photog's watermark on there.

My reading of that site is that he went to the effort of trimming or otherwise obscuring the watermark, which could be said to be an even worse crime.

And just to add a thought: the way things are going, the outcome you propose might not be entirely out of the question. A small probability, to be sure, but not impossible.

Well I guess I was wrong

He spent half an hour looking through design books for an idea to steal, then 15 minutes in Adobe Illustrator

Dentsu steal ideas all the time, everyone knows they do it, nobody dares call them out on it.

I wonder how they will tender for the replacement logo, probably end up with a scrawl drawn by a 7 year old from Gunma.

I could see two scenarios in which the Olympics in Tokyo would be cancelled.

1. It becomes public that Japan has paid bribes to members of the Olympic committee in order to win their bid. This would invalidate the vote, and Japan would be forced to withdraw its organization, by some Olympic authorities or by Japanese public opinion.

2. Japan will go bankrupt, thus being unable to pay for the organization.

I think the first scenario is more likely to happen within the next five years than the second.

If it causes liquefaction in Tokyo Bay, a Kansai Earthquake would be worthy of the name Great.

I hate to be the one that breaks it to you man, but The Great Feline Uprising is about as plausible as the idea that they actually landed on the moon or that 9/11 was real. For one thing, cats can't even organise their own fucking lunch, never mind plan and execute a violent overthrow of their masters and betters. Look how much trouble Sylvester had just trying to eat a Tweetie Bird, never mind that assraped butt whore of Pepe LaPue (a tomcat, btw). But the real reason that you Feline Overlord Conspiracy theorists seem to overlook is the most important one of all: kitty kats are simply delicious. Ask a pack of racoons. It's why when some poor lost soul posts a Missing Cat ad in my neighbourhood, some local wit that seems to carry a marker pen around actually bothers to write over it:

Not Missing, Eaten.

Back to square one it is. :biggrin2:

The 2020 Clusterfuck Olympics just gets better and better.
Retraction of Olympic emblems leaves sponsors scrambling to revise ads
Mainichi.jp | 2015-Sept-02
…
Since the emblems were unveiled on July 24, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government had placed orders for goods with the logos printed on them, with the contract money totaling some 46.52 million yen as of Sept. 1. Among those contracts, the metropolitan government has already paid out 42,012 yen for back panels used at Tokyo Gov. Yoichi Masuzoe’s press conferences and 297,000 yen for 100 posters.
Apart from these, the metropolitan government will likely have to pay a total of around 2.77 million yen for related items already delivered — 20,000 posters, 540 banner flags, 4,000 paper bags and 16 notices at airports. “We haven’t discussed the matter from a legal perspective. We will look into whether we can file a damages claim with the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee,” said a metropolitan official on Sept. 2…more…
