In Joso City near Tokyo, dozens of residents were airlifted by military helicopters after waiting overnight. They arrived at an athletic field in the city, carrying bare minimum of clothes and some food in shopping bags, some of them even without shoes.

at least the name Kinu-gawa(鬼怒川) remains to be unchanged. it means "a river makes Oni(devil) go mad" or "a river like an angry Oni".
but ppl have been getting unconscious about the literal mean for a long time. its a state that signifiant is separated with signifie.

Is This Giant Mutant Wolffish A Result Of The Fukushima Nuclear Disaster?

A Japanese fisherman has reeled in a HUGE wolffish - and it has raised concerns about the effects of the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011.

The giant specimen was caught by Hiroshi Hirasaka off the island of Hokkaido, close to eastern Russia, and is one of the largest wolffish ever discovered.

The species usual only grow to around 112 cm and weigh 15kg - but the one found lurking beneath the Pacific Ocean was a staggering two metres long.

That is around TWICE the usual size - and its gaping mouth is large enough to fit a small child inside.

When Radiation Isn’t the Real Risk

This spring, four years after the nuclear accident at Fukushima, a small group of scientists met in Tokyo to evaluate the deadly aftermath.

No one has been killed or sickened by the radiation — a point confirmed last month by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Even among Fukushima workers, the number of additional cancer cases in coming years is expected to be so low as to be undetectable, a blip impossible to discern against the statistical background noise.

But about 1,600 people died from the stress of the evacuation — one that some scientists believe was not justified by the relatively moderate radiation levels at the Japanese nuclear plant ....

French educationnal show from State TV channel 3 on nuclear issues and mitigation.
(It was a 20 years run tv series for 'all viewerships' )

The offsite pumps and generators are carried to the plant with the helicopter fleet fielded for powerline maintenance and repair. Not lowloader on semitrucks supposed to take quake damaged roads...

Also shown, live training exercise between the plant operator and the Prefet commanding the firemen (red) and gendarmerie (blue).

Bonus with the powercompany rep giving his best "not this shit again" face while being questionned.

Also,

-How do you separate stress and suicides caused by the nukular screw up and those caused by a tsunami that killed thousands and destroyed towns and communities ? If i go back to my hood were no houses are left standing and every neighbourg is dead. You can tell me about a nukaplant blowing up behind the hills... Not gonna matter much even if you tell me that I can't stay in my house... That has been washed away anyway...

-And how can you minimize that nukular risk... Since the populations were displaced... How can it be claimed that they would have been safe to stay. It's a snake biting its tail issue.
There was no need to move people, nobody was killed by the radiation.
Maybe moving people was what helped to avoid anybody dying or getting sick.
But since nobody died or (hem... Maybe) even got sick there was no need to move anyone...

Rince, wipe hands on pant, repeat...

The logic does seem pretty circular but what seems to be lost is focus on the cause of the release. TEPCO kecchi and criminal negligence. But their private shareholders are making money again so it"s all good, right?

It's California's $4.7-billion question: whether to revisit the settlement splitting up the San Onofre nuclear plant's closure costs, which left consumers on the hook for most of it. The decision rests with state regulators, who have no timetable or even requirement to act.

Southern California Edison this week urged the California Public Utilities Commission to reject requests by consumer advocates to reconsider the agreement the agency approved in November, more than two years after Edison discovered a small radiation leak in a new steam generator at San Onofre. The leak from the faulty equipment led the utility to permanently close the power plant.

The settlement required customers of Edison and minority owner San Diego Gas & Electric Co. to pay $3.3 billion of the shutdown costs.

Reopening the case could hurt Edison's lawsuit with the Japanese contractor that developed the faulty steam generators. The contractor, Tokyo-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, has said that Edison is seeking $7.6 billion for loss of the

San Onofre plant, a sum that Edison has declined to confirm.

Mitsubishi maintains that under the agreements for development of the steam generators, its liability is limited to $137 million.

"The allegations and demands made by those parties disregard the history of the contract negotiations and performance and are factually incorrect, legally unsound and inappropriate," Mitsubishi said in a statement.

Shit... Thanks bro...

You can totally run a nukaplant to power a city with bananas they are perfectly exchangeable with uranium that's why radioactive release from a nukaplant is as safe as eating bananas.

Miso makes you nukaproof:

This review describes effects of miso with reference to prevention of radiation injury, cancer and hypertension with a twin focus on epidemiological and experimental evidence. Miso with a longer fermentation time increased crypt survival against radiation injury in mice.
