Just get Amazon prime and watch Jeremy Clarkson complain about cars you could never afford. That and they have all the same movies.

Made a Netflix account today to cross-check against wifey's Hulu, as our WDTV-box has the app anyway and the app is currently in English. Haven't seen anything I'd want to watch, though. But then I am sure, wifey will want to keep it after the free month is over :)

If the availability is like Netflix Canada vs. Netflix USA then the offerings will be slim, depending on your TV tastes: lots of B Run Horror/Sci-Fi/20dumbthing comedy films and TV series and brain searingly boring documentaries, and surprisingly little of what you would call normal movies and TV. I worked my way through Netflix Canada in a few months, but at $8 per month it's hardly worth cancelling, though I eventually did. My impression was one of overwhelming mediocrity, but friends that like whatever they are told to watch seem to like it, and for that price it does offer at least something on a cold wet night at home.

One bright point about a Netflix Japan would be they might dredge up some of the cool TV Dramas and movies from the late 80s and 90s, but I wouldn't bet on that given how pissy Japanese media companies get about broadcast rights.

My brother back in Toronto loves Netflix, but I don't know how much of that is just a reflection of the how much he hated the old CRTC's bundling rules.

It really depends on tastes in TV it seems. I just found the offerings limited enough that I wasn't getting all that much from it, but it seems lots of people like it well enough to pay $8 a month, as did I. $8 is pretty cheap, after all, especially if like your brother and I you've given up on cable and broadcast TV. BTW, the Cdn Netflix limits are also CRTC work: it's the cultural content firewall thingy, so you end up with 3 different versions of the Beachcombers, lots of badly dubbed Quebec movies, and a whole lot of US TV you don't get. I am not against cultural protection rules but it makes for pretty limited TV it seems. I pretty much just use the online streaming stuff these days, like Tubeplus.

Naomi Osaka TV mini series was rated 6.3/10 on IMdB.com: Not great but respectable.

What I cannot figure out is the "PG14" rating for the documentary. It's not like Netflix showed Osaka's titties or anything.

Netflix might crash, i guess at one time it had a unique product...now its just werid and corrupted. Too much politics now and poor Device Support as everyone plugs out and kills the Cable...at one time Netflix was the single option now there are many, many other options.

The best money maker for them these days seems to be buying up Anime tv or S.Korean and Japan products, getting a bunch of dubbing voice over actorss and then selling it to America
US audiences are quitting hollywood and going crazy for Manag and Anime again ... but Netflix is not unique here, other people are doing the very same thing. There will be a new Star Wars all done by Japan animators and its Not a Netflix product

Taro Toporific wrote:

So you watched it? Were they showing footage of the BLM Antifa riots? Sometimes simple politics or fighting can have a PG-13, Disney are typical 'U' universal rated but Marvel/DC or A Beautiful Mind or Transformers movies or Adult Comedy jokes, evebn a few cuss words or rap songs with a few vulgar lyrics they all get PG13 or higher adult ratings
Violence gives a PG13.... or you can have implied weird shit and werido adult language like 'Cuties' that gets you a Federal Police and Political investigation?

Politics and Perversions and SJW culture might have caused some to tune out, there might even be a pedophiule investigation ... the werido Choir guy was some half mix of Jewish ethno Zio religion and Japan Shinto mixed with Commiefornia pervert politics ... a weird look Gay Men’s Chorus linking to Netflix and people that proclaims, “We’re coming for your children” . The US Film Market might be 'California Libveral' but still has conservative roots, so promotion of Baphomet Soddomite culture might not help their product normalization of transgenderism can cost their US brand...have the clowns with their tinsel town SJW woke agenda jumped the shark? Netflix was becoming part of the corrupted BigTech Mafia it seems, they did not want to work with open source freeware software or Linux, then Linux Mint have been successfully using Netflix via Google Chrome without any special workarounds, other indie internet people might feel unsupported, burned by the corrupted Netflix machine. They have stolen other artists works and are involved with alwsuits for copyright claims and took part in Removal of social networking features and only want people on Windows or Mac? Netflix sells youtube conspiracy blog style fake voodoo science as real, "Think Goop is bad? It's only the tip of Netflix's pseudoscience iceberg" a Wired review wrote. Netflix CCO Jonathan Friedland was fired for saying the word "nigger" during a company meeting about Tarantino Rapper style offensive words. Conservative guys like Ted Cruz Slammed Netflix 'Cuties' possible exploitation of kids, Asks DOJ To Investigate or for Some kind of Senate or Congress Hearing about a Pedo Conspiracy...On 23 September 2020, Netflix was indicted by a grand jury in Tyler County, Texas, on a charge that it "depicts the lewd exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child who was younger than 18 years of age ... and has no serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value."In November 2020, it was reported that Netflix sent dozens of takedown requests to Twitter targeting specific posts that criticise Cuties. One user whose tweets were removed said it was "a clear violation of our First Amendment rights", while another user stated it was "just sad", and added "[s]hame on Netflix and Twitter for taking away people's voices. That is how I feel." TorrentFreak said the cluster of copyright claims by Netflix was unusual...nobody is allowed talk about possible Epstein like violations of child exploitation inside Netflix itself. The 2017 Netflix original series 13 Reasons Why exploited Suiciders Logan Paul style, it almost glamoized a story about a teenager who kills herself

At one time they had no competition, now there is Hulu, Apple Tv, Disney + etc

Netflix was already starting to stumble before Corona hit. The competition is making better film and tv during the Covid Lockdowns, Netflix faces shrinking market share
