I hope you are aware that overheating the bits there below affects fertility...

...and it's a waste. I design heated gear like that and that shit won't keep you warm since the heated resistance wire needs to be against your body for you to feel it. I am looking in to designing heated seat cushions since all the ones on the market now are pretty terrible and bulky.

All depends on what resistance wire, how long and how many watts. That thing is 90 watts, so yeah with a shroud your lap will feel nice and warm. And I probably wouldn't want that wire directly against my skin. Still only a partial solution though because your calves and feet might get a tiny bit of benefit but nothing significant. But your loins and nether regions - certainly - so if that's really important....

Exactly. Whenever I see "innovations" like this is just reminds me how poorly designed so many Japanese buildings are.

Most of the stuff I make now uses carbon fiber but even the older resistance wire goods I've seen, including our 90W jackets, you won't feel much heat without it against your body. Not directly against your skin but over a shirt or whatever. Also, 90 watts on that thing sounds like fire hazard territory....every once in awhile I see someone get minor burns because they are wearing some haado gay pants with rivets all over the place or something like that....but with something like a blanket, if you fold the heated portions on top of another, you get double the heat...and I've seen it happen.

It's more like 105W IRL when you consider the 12V battery output is more like 14.X Volts of fun. Of course, we also make controllers that allow the heat level to be controlled down to the %. (so you're not just roasting with 105W on non-stop

Wind chill is huge so I can see that sort of capacity, well spread and close to the skin may come in handy. Inside Tacky's office not so much - I'm sure up to 90 watts in a little tent will keep his family jewels toasty.

Problem is, like I mention in the OP, at 90Ws, even a cm or two off your skin and you won't really feel it. Might by slightly warm but you're heating up all this air in between your body and that contraption, and not very efficiently. (not to mention, it's not exactly a very air tight setup. It's basically a desk kotatsu but using resistance wire. With out stuff, we've actually gotten to the point where we're having flat wire made to increase the area of contact.
