STEVEN SEAGAL'S FIGHT FOR MOTHER RUSSIA
playboy.com / Aug. 24, 2014
...
Seagal’s tour started in the museum at the V.A. Degtyarev Plant, a factory founded in 1916 that produces machine guns, rocket launchers, antitank missiles and even lawn mowers. After viewing a demonstration of heavy weaponry, Seagal spent an hour on the company’s firing range...The point of the trip was announced at a press conference hours later: The deputy prime minister wanted Seagal to become the public face of the factory for an international advertising campaign aimed at expanding sales in the West.
“They have amazing weapons here,” Seagal told reporters. “I trust Kesaev and Rogozin like my brothers. Whatever they put in my hands, I will advertise.”
Rogozin discussed his hope that Seagal’s star power would help put the factory back on its feet...
...
he visited Moscow for Russia’s annual Arms & Hunting exhibition to announce he was lending his name to a new sniper rifle in development by a company called Orsis, where Rogozin’s son, Alexey, is deputy director. The company claimed the actor would be designing a large-caliber ergonomic rifle called the “Orsis by Steven Seagal.” He filmed a series of 15-second action-film-themed television spots for the company and [Seagal] claimed to be a lifelong sharpshooter with a personal record of 2,600 meters*.
“My goal is to be able to do consistent and accurate shots at 3,000 meters,” he said. “I am waiting until this weapon is done to try that.”

I assume all the characters there are known to Man on Man Action fans, which would probably help those of us who like our tough guys to wear more than just elastic panties, but a pretty funny parody of The Master Hizzelf.

The only person I wouldn't know is the camera man...

But ya...

Nick diaz - From Stockton, California. Him and his brother Nate are known for massive shit talking in the ring, slapping their opponents during fights, and being pot heads. Some of the best cardio and boxing in MMA.

Anderson Silva - Brazilian former middle weight champion and considered the greatest pound for pound fighter of all time.

Ariel Helwani - Canadian mixed martial arts journalist.

If you’re willing to overlook the fact that one is significantly more dangerous than the other (Putin poses a serious threat to the Ukraine; Seagal merely poses one to good taste) they are essentially one in the same. It was destiny

Serbia asks Steven Seagal to train special forces
Steven Seagal used to overwhelm Russian and Serbian bad guys in Hollywood movies with his martial arts techniques. Now Serbia wants him to share his secrets.

Serbian officials offered the veteran American actor and producer a job Tuesday training Serbian special police forces in Aikido, a Japanese martial art that Seagal is famous for in his blockbuster movies.

“When you have such a famous star coming to Serbia, who loves our country and our people, our desire is to have him back again,” the mayor of Belgrade, Sinisa Mali, said after meeting Seagal.

Seagal has received the royal treatment during his three-day stay in the Serbian capital, including meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and the country’s pro-Russian president, Tomislav Nikolic.

The action hero is among the Western celebrities who have socialized with Russian President Vladimir Putin and praised him as well as Russia despite the deep chill in diplomatic relations between Moscow and the West.

Serbia — a traditional Russian ally — has officially sought EU membership but has been struggling to overcome strong opposition from pro-Kremlin nationalists.

While in Belgrade, the 63-year-old Seagal received an award from the Belgrade-based Brothers Karic Foundation for his humanitarian work and said he was proud to get the same honor that Putin once did.

The head of the Karic family, Bogoljub Karic, was given asylum in Russia after he fled Serbia when its previous government charged him with corruption and the embezzlement of millions of dollars in state funds.

Damn, Seagal certainly knows how to suck every last drop out of that Aikido teet he's been on all these years.

the goal of aikido is to reach to a stage of "no enemy".
aikido rejects the classic way in which an output respond to an input where there are a series of inputs expected beforehand and if an unanticipated input occurs, it will regard it as a foreign matter and exclude. and it means making an enemy.
meanwhile in aikido an output synchronizes with an input. the way deconstructs the dualism of friend/enemy or strong/weak. aikidos training is to learn the way not only in your brain but also in your "body". and to reach to a stage of "no enemy".
this type of way is very the last thing westerners, especially merican  , understand.

Hmm, I suspect that some guys here don't have time to think "no enemy" when they are in a bar fight...

BTW, what is in your (Japanese) opinion the most effective martial art for self-defense?

And what martial art is considered highest in Japan on a spiritual level?

Steven Seagal? Who's that?

The most effective martial arts are ones where you spar full contact (or full power in the case of grappling) which is why aikido is bullshit.

so aikido is to get off the strong/weak arena. its a most radical form of martial arts. aikidos goal is, in other words, also nirvana. and you dont need to fight anyone anymore. do you understand?

I don't believe in magic.

Nirvana is kind of like heaven.

And when you're in heaven, you're dead.

And when you're dead, you don't need to fight anyone anymore.

Do you now understand?

Actually, Take has it right for the most part....except the part that westerners don't "get it." In fact, nearly all the "hardcore" Aikido dudes I knew in the US were always bitching about their experiences with Aikido in Japan as they felt the Japanese instructors at the schools they had been to were teaching a more macho/forceful style where the stuff we learned in the US is was more true to the original teaching, using positioning, balance and such to "synchronize" with an attack and redirect it away. (although it also could have been some sort of overcompensation for the huge ass gaijin they weren't used to dealing with) I still think Aikido is a really good basis to begin martial arts training and it will come in handy in a number of real life situations....I wouldn't base an MMA career off of it but there are quite a few situations where I can see using the basics with brute strength could be of great use.

What's he right about? That aikido is the path to Nirvana? If there's some kind of spiritual benefit to aikido for some people, that's fine. However, that doesn't have anything to do with whether or not it's effective. There are definitely some things in aikido that can be useful for defending yourself but overall it's not an effective form of combat.

The idea behind it...not saying I believe in Nirvana or that Aikido will take you there but he's right about the philosophy of it.

Steven Seagal Plans Production Venture in Thailand
Variety (Yahoo News) April 25, 2016
1990s action film star, Steven Seagal (“Under Seige,” “On Deadly Ground”) has unveiled plans to launch a production company in Thailand and produce at least two movies in the country.
Seagal last week visited the parliament building in Bangkok and held meetings with members of the National Reform Steering Assembly. The NRSA is an advisory body reporting to the National Council for Peace and Order, the official name for the military government that seized power in 2014.
Seagal did not provide details of the company or the planned movies, though hinted that they would each use different locations and feature Thailand’s ‘muay thai’ form of martial arts.
Alongkorn Ponlaboot, NRSA VP, said that the venture could boost the country’s creative economy, notably its film industry, economy and tourism...more...

Quite a few comments claim it was never him anyways, but if it was, yeah, he sure ran soon. From watching interviews from years ago and that surreality Fat Cop Patrol show he was in he struck me as being as touchy a cunt as a Trump or a Cheney, so one could imagine if that was him he would be pretty taken aback. Still, hilariously dickish questions.
