Not joking here, those guys were using dildo mounted on the whole Black and Decker powertools lineup...

Finally, Sapp really is "old news"

Larger-than-life, controversial MMA star Bob Sapp retires at age 40
JIJI PRESS / AFP / FauxNews
Bob Sapp has tapped for the final time.
The controversial MMA and kickboxing legend (?) is hanging up the gloves for good at the age of 40, he announced on Submission Radio over the weekend. The larger-than-life former PRIDE and K-1 star "competed" as a pro in combat sports for the last 12 years.
Sapp, though, was always more entertainer than athlete. He developed a cult following in Japan based on his sheer size (6-foot-5 and 350 pounds), charisma and booming baritone voice. Sapp (11-18-1) had victories early in his career over some serviceable fighters, but has drawn more attention the last few years for being MMA's version of a jobber.
"The Beast" lost his last 12 MMA fights stretching back to 2011, all by finish. Only one made it out of the first round. In kickboxing, Sapp lost 13 of his last 14 bouts

It looks like Sapp is stepping back into the ring.

Ex-NFL lineman tops bill for Pyongyang fight night

Former NFL player Bob "The Beast" Sapp isn't exactly a household name back home in the United States. But he's big in Japan. Very big. And soon he hopes to be living large — for a week, anyway — in North Korea.

Shades of Dennis Rodman, anyone?

Sapp, a 6-foot-5, 350-pound tank of a man who played briefly as a lineman with the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings before becoming one of Japan's best-known mixed martial arts personalities, will be topping the bill at a martial arts extravaganza in Pyongyang later this month. The two-day event is being staged by a Japanese pro-wrestler-turned-politician in an oddball attempt at sports diplomacy just as relations between North Korea and Japan are beginning to thaw.

[...]

It's all the brainchild of Kanji "Antonio" Inoki, a savvy showman and charismatically eccentric Japanese politician who is one of the only members of Japan's parliament who supports — and actively participates in — exchanges of any kind with North Korea. Inoki, who has visited North Korea nearly 30 times, was suspended by parliament for a month after making an unauthorized trip to the North last year.

The square-jawed, 6-foot-3 Inoki, serving his third term in Japan's parliament, is probably best remembered elsewhere for fighting Muhammad Ali in Tokyo in 1976. But in 1995, he fought American Ric Flair in the "Collision in Korea," a two-day event held in Pyongyang's huge May Day Stadium that drew a reported 380,000 spectators. It was the biggest pay-per-view event in pro-wrestling history. Ali was among the guest attendees.

WTF?
Rizin signs Sapp vs. Akebono rematch for its debut
mmafighting.com Nov 28, 2015
It was anything but a classic fight, but on Dec. 31, 2003, Bob Sapp and Akebono put on a spectacle that nothing since has ever come close to equaling in Japanese culture. On Friday, a rematch was announced for a show exactly a dozen years later...
...
On Friday night in Japan, on a Fuji Network prime time show, Nobuhiko Takada, the pro wrestling legend who is the public face of the new Rizin promotion, announced the rumored rematch as official. The Fuji Network will be carrying Rizin on New Year's Eve, a television show that will combine matches from shows on Dec. 29 and Dec. 31, at the Saitama Super Arena.

I saw the fight in 2003, and I really hoped I'd never see anything so pathetic again.
I guess Chad was really hard up for cash, but there's gotta be better ways to earn some yen than being a punching bag on J TV (and YouTube for all eternity...). The worst thing was how distressed his wife looked in the stands

Most of the fun of that fight was the weeks before, in which it was hotly discussed on TV. The fight itself was a fucking anti-climax, but I wondered why they did not allow more Sumo techniques in it. It was hardly a surprise that Bob Sapp won in the discipline he is specialized in.

Don't worry. If the Sapp-Akebono fight isn't getting you excited there's Baruto vs. Le Banner to look forward too

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1449966131.067219.jpg

RIZIN FF has announced the debut of Kaido Höövelson, better known as; BARUTO. He will take on combat sports legend Jérôme Le Banner on December 31.

30-year-old Baruto (0-0) will be making his MMA debut following his run as a sumo-wrestler which gained him popularity in Japan. After suffering some injuries, Höövelson has transitioned to MMA and has trained under the supervision of world class fighters like Peter Aerts and Akira Shoji.

42-year-old combat sports legend Le Banner (3-2-1, 81-22-2 KB) has been fighting professionally for almost 20 years but has not competed in MMA since December of 2010 where he lost to Satoshi Ishii via decision. He went 2-0 in kickboxing this year, including a knockout and a decision. Along with the experience in MMA and kickboxing, Le Banner has an undefeated boxing record at 6-0 w/ five knockouts.

He's never struck me as the sharpest tool in the shed but being slammed into or off of the dohyo could also cause head trauma. Not to mention the fact that since then he's done pro-wrestling, K-1, and MMA.

Sapp seemed to be begging for the fight to be stopped (9:39) after he split open Akebono's scalp to the point the skull was showing.
Sapp said: "We could do it again, with your head shaved."

Pathetic is the word. Even at it's height I could never figure out the appeal of K-1, but watching Akebono is just sad, couldn't someone please give him a job at Lawson's or something?

Should be fun watching those two fending each other off with their rolling walkers...
