Was there a point to posting it to Youtube, was there a point to you posting it here?

Whilst exploring an exotic, foreign land in a typically Foreign Way I was introduced to practices we don't have in Germany.

Like Wuchan said, though, I thought the cop was a bit gruff at first. Maybe they're instructing them to speak like that to foreigners because it avoids the Keigo problem but I have been noticing a lot of Tokyo pigs speaking to me in unacceptable langauge again. In Kyoto they don't do it very often; they use at least normal polite level. In Asakusa I was ordered to show my card. I almost felt bad for the guy when I told him I didn't respond to vulgar language and that if he didn't want tourists to go home with a bad impression of Japan they had better speak like civil servants are supposed to. He apologised by saying: "I didn't think you were a tourist"..................which isn't really an apology, is it?

The gaijin also sounds rude but we seem to skip over that, or does he get a free pass on "nani?" because gaijin?

Also he edited the video, so we don't know what came before. We also don't see his body language of facial expressions, so the impression is very one sided.

I didn't jump to any conclusions about why he was stopped based on the video but I think his Japanese probably sounds rude because he barely speaks it. In the comments he says he was stopped twice that day and agrees with another commenter that he was being harassed.

Maybe he was cycling like an asshole.

I saw the local koban boys stopping random people with jitensha the other day. You'd think it would be easier to just make the serial badges with barcodes and scan/confiscate parked bicycles on the reg rather than hassle random people just because they have bicycles.

They just want their power over other people to be acknowledged, so harassing random people is the fun part for them...

Take-P,

I was trying to locate some videos of the days in the 90's(?) where Iranians would gather in places like Yoyogi Park and Ueno Park (and basically takeover the whole place - women foolish enough to walk nearby or through the weekend bazzar would get molested or even raped as in the same fashion as the NYE sexual assaults in Germany - Taharrush jamaʿi) but couldn't locate any due to my limited skills. I did find a b/w photo on this blogpost but the text was more about welfare fraud it seems: http://blog.livedoor.jp/samuraiari/arch ... 94416.html I assumed there'd be plenty of footage but came up dry. With what's going on with the migrants in Germany etc., you'd think at least some segments of the media would be bring up comparisons from Japan's not so distant past.

Or worse! Sold a pirate, magnetically hacked telephone card!
You forget what video cameras were like back in the 90s, how rare they were, how you only filmed on special occasions. You might find some news footage but it will be via stretched, analog magnetic tape video.

Or, drugs - a lot more hashish than regular weed.

This guy Mahmoud Kadkhodaei was arrested in 2004:

Turf war behind Iranian street fight
A shooting incident involving eight Iranians that took place in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, in December, injuring three pedestrians, may have arisen from a conflict between two rival Iranian drug-trafficking groups that erupted after the arrest of a ringleader, according to sources close to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Sources said that after the arrest of the Tokyo-based boss, a power struggle ensued as a Iranian group based in Aichi Prefecture tried to enlarge its powerbase.
The MPD is on the alert for the possibility of escalating violence among drug-trafficking groups.

The incident occurred on the night of Dec. 28, when five Iranians from Aichi Prefecture and three from Tokyo began fighting. A 28-year-old man from the Tokyo group was seriously injured when he was stabbed in the lower abdomen. There also was gunfire during the incident, and three passersby, including a university student, were injured when they were hit by bullet fragments. The seven other Iranians fled the scene on foot.

The Iranian, who had been seriously injured in the incident in Shibuya Ward, had a fake Swedish passport and was arrested on suspicion of violating the Immigrant Control and Refugee Recognition Law.

In the early morning of Dec. 29, a 33-year-old Iranian was found handcuffed to the gate of a company building in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. He also was arrested on suspicion of entering Japan illegally.

The investigation later revealed the two were members of a trafficking ring run by Iranian Mahmoud Kadkhodaei, 40, who goes by the nickname "King of Fear" and currently is on trial on charges of violating the Cannabis Control Law.

According to the MPD, the fight in Shibuya Ward started when the Aichi group demanded the Tokyo group give them a cell phone containing details of drugs customers. The man who was later stabbed refused their demand, and the fight between the two groups began, the MPD said.

Kadkhodaei is a former wrestler who represented Iran in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.

Police believe Kadkhodaei has repeatedly entered Japan illegally since 1990 using forged passports. They also believe he earned up to 30 million yen a month selling illegal drugs, and he was arrested in October on suspicion of possessing about two kilograms of cannabis resin.

The MPD believes the Aichi group came to Tokyo in an attempt to take over the drug ring previously run by Kadkhodaei.

The MPD also is investigating previous disagreements between the two groups.

I can't understand what he's saying, but an actual interview with the guy - he also represented Iran in the 1984 Olympics as a wrestler, so I am assuming that's the reason why he was on TV:

And, a televised arrest of an Iranian dealer in Nagoya:

This is a country in which it was judged necessary to provide separate carriages for women because sexual molestation is so rife. Foreign women tell tales of extreme and disgusting molestation on trains even though, we are told, the perverts are leery of attacking foreign women. Sexual harrassment at work continues to be a major issue. My daughter and her friends are schooled carefully by their mothers to navigate all this.

And you want me to believe that some Iranians, in the 90's, in one park in Tokyo one one or two days a week, is something Japan should still be paying attention to?

I remember the Iranians but I don't remember hearing about sexual assaults. Phone cards & drugs, yes, rape no.

I used to live in the same compound as an Iranian guy in Waseda. He was a nice guy, very gentle, got burned on unpaid wages once, went home shortly after.

I don't think you understand Tacky - as per usual. Sorry, my fault really, I forgot your cognition leaves a lot to be desired. Anyway, I was agreeing with you this time. The guy IS a total fuckwit and I'm sure everyone else on here would say exactly the same.

Cow-smelling  Really? Put your back into it for fuck's sake. That's just lazy.

Yes, but there is a ready solution for him. And a forum function ready as well. Sadly, judging from his channel blurbing Capitan Trout seems to be a Doo-gooder, though he could well be nothing more than a white trash charlatan riding Dr. Yoda Soozookee's coattails.
