Yeah, that's at the Yagiyama Zoo up here in Sendai.
Big news on the local TV yesterday, as you might imagine.

At least they captured the clever bugger without harming it.

That is just after the guy blow-gunned a dart right into the chimp's butt. The pipe the guy is holding is the blowgun. The monkey did not like that at all and tried to grab the blowgun away from the guy ... at least that's what it looked like. Smart animal.

They shot him with a tranquilizer gun. I think the pole was just to keep him away.

You're right ... just watched the vid again. I thought it was a blowgun.

Anyway, that dart seriously pissed the monkey off.

It's not shown in that vid, but just after the chimp lunges at the guy he pulls the dart out of his ass and throws it away with what can only be interpreted as "fuck you" monkey disgust. Kinda funny.

They did a better job than with that zebra a couple of weeks back.

At least someone was smart enough to switch off the electricity.

LOL. Fortunately they all had their helmets on. You never know with all them chimps falling from the sky...

Yeah, at least they had a net...I was expecting it to go splat once the tranquilizer kicked in and it fell. (with the usual "it is regrettable, unforeseeable, shoganai etc.)

Still, that chimp was ready to kick some ass after being shot. That could have been comedy gold...

Chimps can be very nasty, they can rip people's limbs off. Their bite is extremely dangerous. Those guys in the helmets have more balls than me, and I hope they keep them cos guess what angry chimps aim for.

Next time they chase around one of those blokes dressed up in an animal suit they should make them climb up the power poles to get a bit more realism into it.

Yeah, this is a very different situation from a Zebra on a golf course. A chimp running wild in a residential area is a very dangerous thing. I'm glad they were able to get him without killing him but if they had killed him it'd be understandable.

OMG, that was so f'in cool. I remember a scene from one of the later lamer Planet of the Apes where Caesar gets out and runs around like that. Life imitating art, LOL. BTW, the news said it was a blanket not a net, but yeah, at least this time they improvised instead of seeing if he bounced as well as that poor Zebra swam.

It was pretty electrifying to see this dude with his stick on the ropes.
