the spartaness of j-school club activities is apparently getting to be improved, at least compared with my school boy days.
i was doing soccer club in elementary-junior high school and the hydration on a 30 minutes break was allowed only small cup of water not only in ordinary training but also even in summer training camp. any other times even a drop of water was NOT allowed to drink.
occasionally some coaches even had bamboo sword to intimidate us boys.
its commonly called showa style(昭和式). but i survived it and learned patience.
I've heard of this shit...more than a few sports players here have told me nobody would drink water during practice because "only weak people need water" was the theme.
