At the same place where you download properly working windows 10 version of the drivers you need for your peripherals:

Hmmm it seems I don't have a key - instead I have a digital entitlement or something. If I re-install windows 10 I just skip past the activation stage and it is all sorted out later online. I wonder if it works.

Meantime my scanner and printer are both working fine. I ditched the fax modem card as it didn't like 64 bit and we are no longer in thrall to Bennesse anyway. Webcams are both fine with W10 so no driver hunting for me I hope.

You don't need a key, it will install without and automatically activate.
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Tacky isn't scraping the bottom of the barrel, he's knocking desperately on it from underneath.

So.................

Has anybody else been the blessed recipient of the latest compulsory Magnum Sized Trojan Insertion? My PC bugged out right in the middle of a crucial episode of Southland and then proceeded to spin empty for a full hour. Once it had all finished I was excited to see they had reworked my perfectly workable start page, added several new Amazing Functions, and generally turned me off MicroCunt even more than I already was. If this is a harbinger of things to come I might have to call Schroeder and install Linus and his security blanket.

Yes, the same thing happened to me. It took forever to install and when it had, there were so many changes. Thanks for nothing Microsoft.

Yes to both of that. The presumption of customer excitement or even consent was what really pissed me off. My machine works fine. Leave me the fuck alone you dorfbrained virgin cyunts.

Canman,
Are you on English or Japanese OS? I'm on Japanese: it works fine, but the non-consensual add ons and add ins really fry my ebi-ten.

You guys talking about the anniversary update? That one made a few changes, but nothing I thought was intrusive. The latest security update has been a problem for some. Not because it made any visible changes, but because there was a widespread issue with the download stalling at 45% or 95% or somewhere. The easy fix is to download and run the standalone installer.

I think it was the bigger anniversary one. I don't think they should be fucking with my settings or menus at all (that's why I have them like that), so that's probably just a difference in attitude. As long as this is annual or so I can live with it (while bitching about it ;) ) but if this becomes more frequent I am going Snoopy on their Red Baron and moving to Linus

I'm guessing it was bundled in with the monthly Patch TuesdayWednesday this side of the International Date Line.

Kuro, why do you not want Microsoft to constantly improve your user experience*? They know much better than you how you like your settings to be. We are talking about the Operating System, a background system that should be practically invisible and seamless and be unobtrusive not make more work for you, after all. Why wouldn't you want it to interfere?

* may not always meet expectations.

Kuro, you can try Linux before you buy (and you are not buying anyway, it is free). Either play around with booting off the DVD, or try out dual booting, which lets you try it out without abandoning your Microsoft. Keywords there for you to search.

Thanks for the giggle. Good fun

Yea, thanks. I looked it all up right after my PC finally came back from update spin town. Looks cool and easy enough, and unlike PC type tutorial articles it was written in recognisable English (Yanpa doing good deeds, perhaps?). I'll keep looking into it and try it next time I have some down time. Thanks again.
