Pretty bad down where we are. The wind seems to blow all the muffy sticky smog from Tokyo/Yokohama down to us, so Nagoya is even hotter, steamier and stinkier than usual. Would take a good whiff of air-freshening typhoon over this any day.

Now the train delays are starting to kick in. People probably didn't have too much trouble getting to work but getting home is going to be a bitch for a lot of them. Thankfully I'm able to work from home on days like this.

Yeah, despite Matsuki's impression (it didn't seem too bad from where I was sitting either) there's been quite a bit of flooding and major disruptions to transportation. On the news they said we got as much rain today as we usually get for the entire month of August.

They've opened the town hall for evacuation and have made a "prepare for evacuation" announcement. That would apply to folk down by the coast, I assume. It's really howling.

The worst seems to be over. Or just the eye of the storm? Whatever, the rain and wind have settled down a lot.

Strange experience.

Here in Kansai there is virtually nothing.

It looks like we might be getting some more love in Tokyo on Monday or Tuesday. And this typhoon has a cool name.

Typhoon Lionrock to slam Japan following deadly impact from Mindulle

Battening down the hatches up here in preparation for tomorrow's battering. All public schools through high-school in Miyagi prefecture will be closed. This is the first (recorded) time that a large typhoon will land from the Pacific ocean directly onto the Tohoku coast, so nobody know what it'll be like.

I hope they have things tied down at the Fukushima nuke plant ... :???:

Not sure what you mean. The typhoon will land up here sometime tomorrow afternoon/evening, at something like 965 hPa.

Hammer, same thing here in Hachinohe. All schools closed tomorrow, I think even non-essential people are being told to stay home. They are especially worried about the typhoon hitting at the same time as high tide causing a storm surge. The farmers in the Tsugaru area are racing the clock to harvest as many apples as they can. I remember about 10 years ago a fairly strong typhoon blew through and really devastated the apple crop that year. This could be worse since it will pass right over us

I hope you guys go through it well.

It was all rain here today in Kansai, but otherwise not a very strong wind. Tomorrow will be sunshine. How weather can differ all across Japan.

Yes, this is one of those "first time in recorded history" type things that could be anything from a wild ride to "that's it?" I'm hoping for the latter. I think I've had enough natural disasters for one lifetime.

It's not just fruit though. I'm wondering how the rice paddies will fare if there really is a lot of wind and water. It's almost rice harvest time so the stalks are tall and top-heavy.
