This will open up a major chink in their public relations armour.

Well, it seems we're on a bit of a slippery slope here, so as a mod it's my duty to raise the yellow card.

As true as that is if you're East Asian (if only they had included areas with poor whites) it still amounts to little more than yellow journalism in MYHOMO. I am not entirely sure if such safety advisories should be determined by PC niceties, but as we can see here if you give them an inch they are bound to take a foot.

So, what is the meaning of the following phrase on the web page you linked?

なお,期限までに国籍の選択をしないときは,その期限が到来した時に日本の国籍の選択の宣言をしたものとみなされます。

when she confessed she had a taiwanese nationality in the magazine, she was 30 year old.
so it means she selected it until 22 yearold and also means she lost her j-nationality at that time.

That's not what I asked.

The sentence I quote appears to clearly say that if someone with double nationality doesn't select a nationality until the age of 22, then it will be automatically assumed that that person has Japanese nationality.

Also, this link claims that no one has ever lost Japanese nationality when not giving up one of their (double) nationalities.

the real problem is whether or not she has been at the state of double nationalities, despite the fact that she is a placeman.
but...

http://www.j-cast.com/2016/09/07277365.html?p=2

it seems like taiwanese "nationality" is not regarded as a nationality in j-law.

there is a high probability that Renho is a spy of chinese communist party.
we japaese should not hesitate to use any means necessary to drag this bitch down from the position of power.

There is method in this conspiracy theory madness, in that Renho's father was originally from the mainland, but his very act of fleeing to Taiwan from the mainland suggests strongly that his sympathies were with the Nationalists. Also, he acknowledged the legitimacy of the Nationalist regime in Taiwan by not only taking their citizenship, but in accompanying Renho to their representative offices in Tokyo.

Frankly, I didn't think this Takespew deserved a response.

judging from her past remarks(before becoming a assemblyman), she apparently places her mental pivot foot on china rather than japan or taiwan.
well i think Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Public Security Bureau(警視庁公安部) or Public Security Intelligence Agency(公安調査庁) already inspected whom she made a connection with while she studied in beijin univ, though.

"They Japanese" put her in a position of power by electing her. That is the only way that she has her position. "Using any means necessary" is a bit harsh and a slippery slope encouraging tit-for-tat reprisals, but surely if "they Japanese" decide that they do not want her in power, they are perfectly at liberty to elect a different candidate. Done!

You make it so complicated!

Takechan wants her to be elected, because then he has something to complain about...
