Freelancers fucked by Tokyo Nyuinkan?

Postby wangta » Sun Nov 27, 2016 12:09 am

I've lived elsewhere in Japan in fucked and boring inaka. 1 positive thing is that on one or two occasions the local Immi office actually had human beings who were helpful and gave you info about how to be more independent by freelancing.

Tokyo seems to be different. I've got mates who've had shitty experiences at the Immi office that starts with Shin...They said it was like a kick in the shins when they tried to get out of their horrible jobs and freelance by teaching at different places. They said in Tokyo you will get stonewalled if you try to do this to renew your visa as the drones at Shin... will demand a sponsor. No guarantor, no new visa.

So bang goes your chance at freeing yourself from cunts controlling you and making your life miserable at one school. This sounds incredibly narrow and seems aimed at restricting fucked gaijins but is it true? In another part of Japan I once did the self sponsorship bit. I put together a raft of part time jobs and the Immi people rocked - they helped me with lots of advice and said just put one of your employer's names down as a token sponsor. I was making 260,000 yen per month with 5 jobs.

So are the shinkickers at Shin Office so ready to screw the eager gaijin?

Workload issues ?

The immi at Big-T's harbor look like they are forgotten gate keepers. Begging for human company...
So sure thing when they got an actual human to work with they do their best.

Now in Tokyo... managing 200 Russian hookers daily might make them question their career choices...

i recommend you to go to korea. as for english teaching business, it seems like recently the table has been turned between japan and korea. you can get better salary and lower tax and lower cost of living there.

Only if you have a raging and racist persecution and White Man Entitlement complex..........like half the English for Life lifers......
My knowledge is anecdotal but I remember several years ago there being a fairly wide crackdown on the self-sponsorship scam because most people on it I knew in Kyoto were scamming by claiming on-paper only jobs and income to pad out their application. It's fair enough if you don't need the required minimum income to live on but that isn't what the rules say and filing a falsified application is a crime. Just because the Tokyo office actually knows the rules and applies them uniformly doesn't make them dickwads, but it does make that of those who think they are owed a visa because they're white and in Japan and therefore know better than any native exactly what they should get when they demand it.
I would also bet the regional offices simply don't know the rules but had a flexibility and eagerness to help, which is great but not really part of the rule book either. I have had several tourist visa waiver extensions from regional offices that are absolutely unthinkable by the letter of the law. And for that I thank them, but I didn't expect it.
Apologies for going Havill, and I do get that it's frustrating but think about it: that attitude shows when you deal with them, and it cannot help one teensy bit.
