https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/aug/27/birling-gap-evacuated-after-chemical-incident-on-east-sussex-coast

More than 100 people have been treated in hospital after a chemical “haze” descended on beach goers on the East Sussex coastline.

Birling Gap, near the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs, was evacuated by emergency services after people complained of breathing difficulties and irritation to their eyes and throats at about 5pm on Sunday.

Police said an unknown “haze” coming from the sea had left people along the coast from Eastbourne to Birling Gap requiring assistance. They warned people in the area to keep doors and windows closed.

East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust said: “We became aware of a hazardous cloud moving across from Birling Gap to the Eastbourne area earlier today.

Wonder what happened here, illegal dumping of chemical waste in the channel?

Remember how AUM Shinrikyo did test runs of the sarin attack up in Australia and Matsumoto, hope this isn't something similar.

Yes but... some people actually do take industrial risks seriously...

For info:
Brochure from Verdun about the risks, alerts and crisis comunication method, recommended protocol to reach safety and on and on...

http://www.verdun.fr/content/download/1 ... formation+à+la+population.pdf

A bit far from the "eh eh eh... only idiuts are afraid of exploding nukaplants, eh eeh eh, they fear it gunna expload all them things..."... and back to licking windows...

US Navy crews at fault in fatal collisions, investigations find
defensenews.com/breaking-news | /2017/11/01
Two accidents that claimed the lives of 17 sailors and wounded dozens more resulted from complete breakdowns in standard Navy procedures and poor decision making by officers and sailors on the bridge of the two warships, according to a Navy report obtained by Defense News.
The Navy plans to release on Wednesday its first official report on the specific causes of the two unrelated collisions this summer when both the destroyers Fitzgerald and John S. McCain struck commercial vessels in crowded sea lanes in the Pacific.
The report reveals that both collisions came after critical failures of officers and sailors on the bridge and raise troubling questions about the basic proficiency of the Japan-based 7th Fleet and the surface Navy as a whole.

So, spending more time on how the American flag looks in various orientations on the uniform sleeve is more important that how to steer a vessel on the high seas. Sounds legit.

Japanese boat crashes into US Navy destroyer in Pacific Fleet’s 5th collision this year

Russia Today wrote:A US Navy destroyer has collided with a Japanese tugboat in Sagami Bay, off the east coast of Japan, making it the fifth such incident involving the Pacific Fleet this year.
An official statement from the US Navy's 7th Fleet said the tugboat lost its propulsion and drifted into the USS Benfold on Saturday, sustaining minor damage.

“No one was injured on either vessel and Benfold sustained minimal damage, including scrapes on its side, pending a full damage assessment,” the statement read. The USS Benfold remains at sea while the Japanese boat was towed to a port in Yokosuka. The Navy said that the incident would be investigated.

This is the fifth such incident to take place this year, two of which have been fatal. The first took place on January 31 when the 31 USS Antietam ran aground, spilling 1,100 gallons of oil into Tokyo Bay, causing an estimated an estimated $4.2 million of damage. The second crash occurred on May 9, when the USS Lake Champlain collided with a South Korean fishing vessel in the Sea of Japan.

Hmm, a better punishment would be to force them to intern for 3 months on an Argentinian submarine...

Asia Is About To Be Hit By The “Worst Oil Tanker Spill In Decades”

Authorities have had trouble pinning down how big the spill is, as it changes by the day amid strong ocean currents. But concerns are growing about the potential impact to key fishing grounds and sensitive marine ecosystems off Japan and South Korea, which lie in the projected path of the oil, according to Britain’s National Oceanography Centre.

"An updated emergency ocean model simulation shows that waters polluted by the sinking Sanchi oil tanker could reach Japan within a month," the center said a report posted on Jan. 16. "The revised simulations suggest that pollution from the spill may be distributed much further and faster than previously thought, and that larger areas of the coast may be impacted."

Speaking of which, did any heads ever roll over the whole serving mercury laden whale/dolphin/etc to school children that supposedly was shut down when that Cove movie came out?
