That's cold: Japan tech blasts snoozing workers with AC
AFP | July 26, 2018
Japanese office workers hoping to nod off on the job may need to sleep with one eye open thanks to a new system that can detect snoozers and blast them with cold air.
Air conditioning manufacturer Daikin and electronics giant NEC said Thursday they have begun trialling the system, which monitors the movement of the employee's eyelids with a camera attached to a computer.
The computer can automatically lower the room's temperature if it detects dozing at desks.
"We hope to introduce this system commercially in 2020," a Daikin spokesman said.

All I can say is, "fcuking good luck with that."
When I worked at Hitachi, a good 20 percent of the workforce was sound asleep at their desks after lunch 1:45pm.
And, I would gladly pretend to sleep to set the office's air conditioner thermostat lower 28°C (82°F).

THIS x9999999

How many offices are still trying to keep the office at 28℃ while people are passing out this year? Children/seniors dying due to A/C kecchiness (or just lack of AC) seems at an all time high...

I work at big J company and our office is freezing (wearing heattech in summer). Doesn't stop people from sleeping.

Beautiful technology!

Imagine it. If you die of Karoshi, the AC temp will be turned down automatically to keep your corpse fresh.

That's what I call innovation...

Russell, you should definitely patent this general idea as in "A device or technology that detects the decease of one or multiple living beings and, either by itself or with the help of another device/devices/apparatuses connected to it by wire or wirelessly or otherwise, will cool down the room temperature to slow down the decay of the corpse of that deceased former living being. Additionally it could start to play music from "Cannibal Corpse" or any other band, either by itself or with the help of another device/devices that is connected to it by wire or wirelessly or otherwise, in order to give closure to other not yet deceased living beings emotionally or financially or otherwise connected to it.

Better run this text through a good patent lawyer so that you can sue the living daylights out of anyone, who wants to build such a device or something remotely similar.
