Is that where the break in the JR line is? I saw a picture up at Imabari Station showing a very broken railway bridge today but I couldn't figure out exactly where is was.
I did no research on where the line is cut (nor on anyone's home address), I just looked for a significant river between Imabari and Matsuyama with a clear view down the river from the bridge.
It does sound like it is time for Dimwit and Mock Cockpit to have a mini FG meetup, floods permitting.
And to answer Matsuiki's question: yes, channelization with concrete will increase the capacity of some rivers, but even that greater capacity has a limit.
Of course, design decisions like this for that bridge do not help in these situations (fun google artefact)
It seems that the actual bridge in question might be in Kagawa, the other side of Kannonji, but the effects on the transport network extend much wider.
