Relative to it's level of development, Vietnam is actually pretty clean. I'll take the public toilets there over Worst Korea any day.

Airport and shopping centers loos in Vietnam are nearly as clean as japanese one, including the daily clean up task schedule at the door... And all the appliance/shitters are Toto or Inax.

Lost highways loos are a little more hardcore. But common sense hardcore. Seems that if the shitter is not supposed to be cleaned ever you have a squat hole on the floor and nothing have to be touched/operated. Same for men urinals. Stalls with continuous flowing water turned on when a tourist bus pulls in, no push buttons.

Yikes! The Uyoku dantai mouthpiece, The Mainichi, has come out with an article condemning Japan's National Tree, the CONCRETE UTILITY POLE!
Typhoon-triggered blackout in Japan highlights need to lay electric lines underground
The Mainichi | September 14, 2019
...
The major power blackout triggered by powerful Typhoon Faxai highlighted the need to eliminate electric poles by laying power cables underground, but the high costs for such work pose a problem...
...
progress thus far. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, work to replace electric poles with underground power lines has been completed in a mere 8% of all roads in central Tokyo's 23 wards

There is so much road construction going on in Japan all the time, I wonder whether they couldn't just combine it with laying electricity cables underground. That would probably save half the cost already.

It's just that no one is trying to save a single yen. Well, besides me.

Here's an idea: make the utility poles hollow, so next time they fall over they can be buried and used as pipes*.

* idea not fully thought through
