I am soooooo not going to tokyo disneyland ever again. Now I have a good reason !!!!

I still dont know why it is the english system, actualy its the imperial system. For parts even in the uk now they use metric as its is EU law.

The only thing left in Imperial is road distance.
Am I still not allowed to have a sig?

Ask an Englishman how tall he is or how much he weighs. Laws are funny things, don't always change the way people think (NZ went metric before I was born and I still think occassionally think in feet)

I agree - about 1967 Oz went metric but most of the general public still refers to height in imperial feet and inches.

And, of course, surfboards are still measured in imperial. I've never heard of one measured in metric. However, the natural enemy of surfboards - sharks - appear to have made the transition to metric.

Then there's the tallywacker jokes for lads - still in imperial.

Which reminds me of that other old joke about why women have trouble parking - because they keep being told by men that 6 inches is a foot !!!

Nahh I was born in '67 and remember the hoohaa about "the change" being about 1972/3. It was against the law to sell anything with imperial calibrations for a few years around then. I still have no idea about my metric dimentions being as I am a Collingwood 6 footer!!* I work in metric for small things mm and cm but it's feet and inches fir the bigger stuff

*for non OZ people it means I am not actualy 6' tall but I claim to be
Reality is only for people with no imagination

That is true for us poor Australian chicks!!

However, I don't think that I would like to see a foot shaped tallywacker? Must be hard to find clothes. 8O

The old "baby's-arm-holding-an-apple" unit of measurement is still around. I was at an Australia Day function the other day and some drunk fool was trying to impress the babes with this line.

All depends on your Parking stylee

GG was the guy with "the babies arm" hungry enough to "eat the crotch of a low flying seagull" as well?

I think it was "a low flying duck" - but I can't be certain... :?

Haven't heard that expression for a while - a friend of mine back home says it all the time. Natsukashii...
