Dealing with culture shock

Postby devicenull » Sun Jan 25, 2004 6:32 pm

well, i am back from Taiwan. I came to love it later in the trip.. the problem before was the neighborhood we were in. Bit of a problem now though. even though it was only 3 weeks, it felt a LOT longer than that. And the shock of coming back "home" is far greater than anything i experienced while in Taiwan. Seeing another white guy on the street was a cause for staring and questioning him. I miss bellfruit, beetlenuts, 711, and the way nothing was boring. the food, i also greatly miss. it was cheap and healthy.

shock started in as soon as we transferred from China Airlines to Delta. the fact that it is snowing here does not help matters much either. Things are really starting to irritate me here now, with luck, a busy school semester will drown those things out for a while. I have been back for a day, and i hate it here. I hated it in LA when we hung out during the layover, i hated it in Atlanta, and I hate it here. it's the little things, but there are a lot of little things. how do you deal with this?

Try relaxing, and not let the little things bother you too much.

been relaxing. i really need to get to an ATM today, i have more in NT and HKD than I do in greenbacks. sales tax irritates me so much right now, if you are going to tax me, at least pre-factor it in to the pricetag on the shelf... jeeze. i think my problem is that i went red on this trip :P

Unhappy

Postby Mini_B » Sun Feb 01, 2004 2:03 pm

It seems as though you're unhappy anywhere you go. Mybe killing yourself is a little drastic though. I know how you feel when you say little things get on your nerves...sh*t annoys the piss out of me too. But life is too short to let the little things bother you. It could be a lot worse. Pick up the newspaper if you need a reminder. Having the bus that you're riding on blown to peices by some sweaty Muslim while your reading the morning paper would be a bit nerve racking. Don't worry be happy mon.

Peace-

I won't cry if you do seppuku... really I won't.
:D Stop your moaning.. you could be in Iraq or Afghanistan... or some other hole.

You could resort to drugs... smoke you a joint or shoot up some hair-oh-en...

Other than that, why not masturbate until your pecker turns red.. that will take your mind off a few things and on to other smaller issues :D

But what if masturbation is one of those "smaller issues?" Wouldn't that just make things worse? :spin:

heh. the youngest one is like 25, the oldest is about to turn 29. They have to do it in class, what else would you have them be called if they are the ones teaching the material? It's just different when it comes to my case... first name basis now if we are going to be helping each other out on class material and we are in all the same classes.
