Hi - what do you know about working contracts

Postby Midori » Mon Apr 10, 2006 6:58 pm

For about 6 months? I'm new here and I'd appreciate any input. I left Japan not so long ago because of a matter in my home country. The timing was bad for me but not so bad for my workplaces.

I was between contracts and so my giving notice was not a problem for 3 of my workplaces. The only workplace where I wasn't, was a kindergarten that had not given me an on paper contract despite my requests over 3 years. The owners kept the privilege of hiring and firing undocumented and would have told me to go with no notice had it suited them. Therefore it didn't worry me quitting that job with 2 weeks notice to go back to an emergency situation in my home country.

I didn't want to leave Japan but I felt obliged to someone at home. It was sufficiently serious to make me think that they were more important. I miss Japan and I still have until March next year on my visa. I was wondering if anyone here knows whether there is any chance of my getting hired for a job of limited duration such as 6 months by an employer in Japan despite living in my home country at the moment.

I am a serious teacher, and can prove a decent employment record both outside and within the 5 years I spent in Japan. The only problem is I can't come to Japan for an interview as it may not be worth my paying the airfare if I am turned down. Factor in the inevitable aparto costs etc and it's not worth coming in case I get a job.

Does anybody know anything that could help me? I've done job searches on the net but nothing has come up. Again, I stress I am an experienced teacher with 5 solid years of employment in Japan and considerable work and life experience outside of it. Thanks for any advice.

BTW - I love this website Taro and the various posters make me laugh. A great blend of the comical and the serious!

I've spent a couple of hours banning spam-bots like "Rhys" but sadly there has been a plague of them for the past two days. Please bear with me as I take out the trash.

It's kind of a shame, the original question "about working contracts" by Midori-chan never got answered waaaay back in 2006. I always wonder what life has been like for the FGs that escaped Japan.

otsukaresama. ALT contracts are generally one year. Could just 'quit' mid contract. Some have skype online interviews :?:

Saaaaa...

I am gonna need more than a trash calendar to figure out how to sort some of the latest spambot posts.

Two of the most recent FG members, MoneyveoRNB and j tang_69, have all the attributes of a spambot accounts---typical bot naming conventions, suspicious IP addresses, odd posting time that are not JST---- but their posts are logical. Maybe the spambots have become sentient?

What I need a ごみ分別大辞典/Garbage Sorting Guide like this one that's 42 pages long.

They stink like goat bucks. Completely out of time generic posts, no additional information, don't follow the thread's tenor, no reason at all for posting what they post, but nothing ban-worthy. They will surely raise their ugly heads soon enough.

Sadly, some of FG's most prolific posters have, "no reason at all for posting," nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

Your IP address is blacklisted by a couple of anti-spam sites---That's not that strange since right now mine is too. Additionally yourname_69 is common pattern for porn spambots (the "69" is the porno giveaway). But, I didn't ban you because you sound logical/human. I very happy to see that you are legit by your reply right now. Welcome aboard the SS Fcuked.

And apologies from me for the goat buck :) If you're legit, you are welcome here; we can always use a bit of fresh blood.

Even if you were born in 1969 or really into oral sex, it is wise not use "69" as part of a username from the anti-virus/antispam standpoint. Just look at my FG member logs for the past hour or so: "69" is the favorite porn spambot name (on our watchlist of new members you are the only one who logged-in that wasn't a spambot).
