NAGOYA -- An elderly criminal who was handed a 15-year sentence for attempted murder during an armed raid on a cash transport vehicle in 2002 has filed a unique appeal saying that as a skilled marksman, if he really wanted to kill the victim he would have succeeded.
In an attempt to prove his argument, the man, 73-year-old Hiroshi Nakamura, admitted at the Nagoya High Court on Wednesday that 15 handguns and 1,000 bullets that police recently confiscated from safety-deposit boxes in Tokyo and Osaka belonged to him.
"A big difference between an ordinary criminal and myself was that I possessed excellent weapons and had the ability to use them. I was confident that I would not fatally wound the victim," Nakamura told the court. "I am a skilled gunman and my shots were aimed at the security guard's leg. I had no intention to kill him so the attempted murder charges should not stand."
During the heist, he fired three shots from his pistol. One of the bullets went through the guard's right shin ...
One hit in three !- let's hope the J-troops in Iraq are better marksmen, otherwise, maybe they should be in "F-Troop".
