Killer Alien Box Set for Japan Only
No U.S. release, says Fox.

February 02, 2004 - Well, it seems once again our friends outside of region one get a real killer deal. Killer in terms of the packaging and the price.

You may remember last year that Borg Mega Cube released in Europe, containing all seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Well, Fox has that one beat.

The Alien 25th Anniversary Collection being released in Japan will contain all nine discs as found in the Alien Quadrilogy but comes in the most badass case ever seen. As Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits - who broke this story - noted, this tops the rotting flesh cover for The Evil Dead.

The price, however, is painful - 29,800 yen, which comes out to a little more than $300. A second set, called the Ultimate Collection comes with the nine discs in a clear green digipak for 14,800 yet, or around $160.

We asked Fox if it will ever be released in the U.S. and they said no. Perhaps they can be persuaded to change their minds. Either that, or it's time to find a Japanese e-commerce site that takes American orders.

I saw that too, but it's IGN's math, not mine. Maybe they were counting on tax or something.
