I'm not advocating for unsupervised, self medication with anything but we do have some studies and data that seems to show Ivermectin is effective at preventing mortality, spread, etc. so it's not like the people taking it are without reason or have unfounded, irrational beliefs. I'm more on the side of why isn't this treatment being explored? (and believe the answer is likely money)

Ivermectin is likely to be an equitable, acceptable, and feasible global intervention against COVID-19. Health professionals should strongly consider its use, in both treatment and prophylaxis.
