Yamashita prepared 12 obstacles in the school's gymnasium as a challenge for the students. One stage, for example, was a combination of vaulting box, balance beam and mats and was aimed at developing the ability to jump. When they cleared all 12 stages, Yamashita presented them with certificates of full proficiency in the arts of the ninja.
