I am sure that I read about a peace demonstration in Tokyo this month but all my searches are proving fruitless. Anyone confirm that I am not hallucinating? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Tara. Just went back and figured it out. Sorry for the meaningless post but I really want to go to that demo. A newbie here so it is taking time to adjust.

Why is it called a 'peace' demo?

The war against Saddam Hussein's regime is over, and any fighting is now about fending off an Islamist insurgency lead by people who want to create civil war between the Sunni, Shiites, and Kurds.

They want to create greater chaos so that Wahhabism has a chance to grow amongst the Sunni Muslims-allowing for the creation of a fundamentalist Muslim state in Sunni controlled Iraq.

Now, I'm sure the usual suspects at the 'peace' demo don't give a damn about what happens next in Iraq. They just hate the US (often for non-related reasons) and want to see them fail at any price.

(I'm going to a huge demonstration against the Napoleonic Wars, like, on the weekend. I'm sure if we get enough people there and get TV coverage, we can, like, stop the fighting. That war is just about control of the world's pig-iron and truffles market. Oh yeah, and racism, like.....).
