The racial stereotypes aside, if this was a pilot, I really liked how they f*cked up all the nuances. First, they're supposed to be Japanese yet they're watching a Chinese news program. Second, there was a link to a site a while ago to see if you could identify which nationality an Asian person belonged to. My money is that none of the people on this show are Japanese. Finally, the daughter's attempt to speak Japanese was pretty bad. Geez, you woulda thunk they could afford to buy some intern exchange student some donuts to give them advice.

I've been watching this video circulate on the Internet for almost three years now. Help me out here guys, I ask the following with the desire for a real answer, i.e. I'm not just being snarky, this is a real question....

If I produced a similar clip called "Israel Dinner" and had a bunch of Africans mimicking Jews and calling each other the "k word", do you think that would become an Internet classic? If so, why. If not, why not. Anyone care to answer without flames?

I suspect not, for several reasons.

1. There's a history of animosity (real or not, it's perceived) between blacks and jews.
2. Asians are viewed as being fairly straight-laced, so the "hip-hopping" of their breakfast is amusing.
3. There's the whole "it's okay for black people to say 'nigger' but not anybody else" thing that's being poked fun at. Jews don't call each other "kike." (Or "heeb" or any other such term.)

That's my start. Anybody got anything to add?

Its funny if I say in public 'I'm white and I'm proud' people think I am racist. But I face being force fed the message I'm black and I am proud from ever forum of media. Another one tat woud be funny "white power" I must ask my local black comunity in the kabukicho whats their impressions. But I dont want to go to no clubs tonight.

It was a woman, I didn think jews were very much into female circumcision, but I would like to check all the same.

I put the answer as 5 as I was aware my judgement was based on a stereotype.


There may of been others, but I was pointing out that I am not familiar with jews in general. I dont anything bad or even good about their lifestyles. Also I dont know any derogatory terms for jews. Hell until I saw a post here I didnt even know jews invented bagels, I though they were just some casualy American trend.

The Black pride thing stems from the marginalization of Black americans in the U.S. as well as back in the 50's and earlier a lot of Black Americans were trying to lighten their skin and straighten their hair. Some folk got fed up with Black people trying to be more like "whitey".

As far as that niggA this and niggA that. I don't agree with it. Some people find that video offensive. I don't. But is an interesting commentary on how Black Americans are viewed and portrayed in the media.

First, I have to disagree with the notion that there's some chasm between the black and jewish community, I just don't see it. I think it's mostly media spin. In fact, more often than not, Jews have been the primary champions of African-American civil rights throughout American history. I used that particular example, but I could have use any number of other racial juxtapositions.

As for Jews calling each other the k-word, yes I've heard it. Albeit, with no where near the frequency I've heard ignorant blacks use the n-word towards one another. I've also heard Jews call each other 'heeb', and it's a fact that one of the hottest new magazines out is called Heeb Magazine. That said, if I as black guy used the term 'heeb', even in jest, my mainstream career would pretty much be over. On the other hand, people can say the n-word all day long, and it's "artistic license." Just some food for thought.
