Hangin' at The Fuji-Ya Hotel - [video]

Postby mr. sparkle » Fri Feb 20, 2004 7:46 pm

hey FG,
Back in '95, rob pong introduced me to miss yamazaki on my first trip to japan. she is one of his former english students when he was an english teacher in the states.

needless to say, we hooked it up back then. we're still hanging out and it's almost 10 years later. she's a great friend and her aunt tamami always invites me over for traditional japanese grub every time i come to the Tokyo area (I've been 7 times now!). auntie t. always gives me jack daniels and gets me wicked wasted. i love the yamazaki's - i consider myself lucky that i know these folks. especially the charming miss yamazaki. she's still really a cutie.

here's a clip of me and miss yamazaki strolling around the grounds of the famous fuji-ya hotel in 2002.

the music in the last part of the clip was from some recording rob and me from a charming duo called "black baby" made in front of kichijoji station.

hope you like.

awesome video Mr. Sparkle! I never get tired of watching videos about nothing with good looking girls in em...and miss yamazaki is one good looking girl...Keep up the good work and don't be shy to post more videos!
Any way to get a mp3 of that song?

glad you enjoyed mr. batman,
an mp3 of the entire "black baby" song? hmmm... that's something that does not exist! i'll work on it and see if i can do that. right now, it's only on mini disc.

i'm glad you think she is a cutie. i think so too! but you may be surprised that miss yamazaki is 38 years old. i think that japanese women still know how to look good, dress well and be youthful for a long, long time.

i've got a few more videos cued up for the FG nation.

what would you like to see next. a solo stroll around shimo kitazawa or me 'n miss yamazaki doing odaiba?

best,
Mr. Sparkle

i took the MD recording and converted to MP3 for you.

the song was recorded very near that red awning on the left -
right across the street from kichijoji station

the band is called "kuroi akachan" - or black baby.
the song is called "toki doki betsu betsu ni"

this was fun recording these guys. just a couple of teen age dudes.

one of my favorite views of the "joj". check out the beat up triangular shaped shack

one fun thing to do in the evening in kichijoji (the pongi back lot) is to wander around the area by the train station. when it's warm, a ton of kids are down there playing music. you can make an evening of it or just stop by on the way to za hub.

inokashira park-where me 'n the pongi slurp soba and guzzle brewskies in the summer

in the spring-summer, they are also playing at inokashira park, a great place for cherry blossom partying (see the Shamisen Player on robpongi.com)

if you go to rob's site and check out the "Soup" video (which i edited), you can see another example of the kids just janglin' on guitars singing heartbreaking little ditties down in a wonderful part of southwest tokyo...kichijoji--a place with good grub or just a place to hang out and be yourself.
