subway in tokyo

Postby Manarak » Sat Feb 28, 2004 12:29 am

One information I have been unable to find on the net:

Are there weekly or monthly passes for the tokyo transportation system (i.e. buses & subway inside the city)?

Yes. You can get monthly passes (that ironically get you unlimted train travel for a month) or you can buy a card that will allow you trips to a certain yen value.

You can buy 3 or 6 month passes too but not that many people do it as if you lose it then you are screwed.

The average salaryman's train pass is worth more than $200, so losing it's bad news since the company is required by Japanese custom to pay ALL commuting expenses. Previously you said your "contract offered is of local type" so you better be getting ALL commuting expenses paid by your employer or you are mo' f'ed than 95% of the other salarymen out there.

Ok, I'm here now (Akasaka)...
Urrggghhh... Thinking about leaving.

Is the Roppongi supermarket "food express" representative of other supermarkets?
There few foreign products, and I even could not find beer there...

Roppongi is about the least representative place in Japan - for EVERYTHING.

Supermarkets - depends on what you want. If you want to high cost imported goods to make you feel like you are still at home - then head to Hiroo - National Azabu supermarket. Or on Aoyama Dori near the Omote Sando Crossing there is Kinokuniya. Or for a shopping extravaganza - get a car and head to Costco in Chiba - very large bulk buying hypermarket with all your faves from home. They have a home delivery service too . http://www.theflyingpig.com (That url is from memory so it may not be correct. But just google The Flying Pig and Japan and you will find it. )

If you want bread and milk - go to a local supermarket. It is cheaper and you will find beer and all the basics. The labels will be in Japanese - but hey - you are in Japan, so some of that kind of thing should be expected.

That's the link. And they've even got Vanilla Coke now!

Not as good as Vanilla Pepsi, mind you, but I haven't seen that anywhere in Asia yet. :( I got sooooo hooked on that stuff last summer. The latest variation to hit Korea is Pepsi Blue. :puke: blech!

The concrete Akasaka buttplug is considered very upscale by Japanese. I could only dream of living there. Don't worry, it only gets "better".

went today to McDonalds here.

Hey, it was the best McDonalds meat I ever got in the world.
Even the fries were served hot, and the pickles had some taste.

Speaking about buttplug, there's a building out my window that looks like one. Dunno its name, atago tower says a coworker?

I think everything in Tokyo McDs tastes off like miso and tofu but I suppose it's the air.

Here's the Atago Butt-plug
