You know when you go into an internet cafe in, say, Singapore and on the PCs there is a little icon in the bottom right hand corner - and you can change the language that you are typing into your emails/word pro in an instant....
If I am going to buy a new english OS G4 ibook - tommorow what software do I need that will ensure smooth Eng-JP input?
I understand that on a new PC with XP installed a copy of "MS proofing tools" is required - what about with Apple Macs.
I mean the english software - but with Japanese dictionary grammer checker etc..........
You won't be buying an "English OS" machine
If you need a Japanese dictionary or grammar checker, you'll probably have to buy that separately. I'm not aware of anything other than the English spellcheckers in OSX. Ask at the store to be sure though.

...well I am buying it in the UK (where I am at the moment)....its gonna be English!![]()
No, it won't be.
It'll be multilingual same as if you bought it in America, Japan, Korea, France or anywhere else. It'll just be set to boot in English. All the other languages will still be there.

but if youre not coming to Japan to get it
you may consider checking it against the Irish price
you could probably finance a weekend in Dublin (using Ryanair) and still have change leftover - depends on how much you like Guinness
japslapper wrote:The airport extreme card is a good idea - but I will get it later (that is assuming I can buy it another time, say in Tokyo and it will still work![]()
).
Does anyone know if the protection plan is international or not? - the next 3 years will be 50:50 between the UK and Japan....whats the best thing to do? Any ideas![]()
Mr X wrote:When you guys are talking about the OS being multilingual, does that mean you can change the tool bars and explorer and error messages and all THAT stuff to English too (I bought my compaq 3500 pos in Japan)??
I know you can change email and word and all that, I do it all the time, but is it possible to change everything else too? If so, how?
I'm wondering, cause I'm in the market for a laptop myself and thought I might have to go to Akihabara or something to get an "American model".
