I'm not Asian-American, so I can't speak directly to your situation. However, I don't think being Asian-American would play for or against you at all. It's all about whether you've got game: your style, your look, your personality, your job, etc. There's no need to overanalyze it.

Seems to be working for me! (So far......)

But (IMO), I don't think that being a non-native Japanese is considered an advantage. I notice that in Hawaii, most of those student visa Japanese girls almost always go for the kokujins and hakujins.
A local Japanese guy in Hawaii can't hardly get any play! (From J-girls, that is)
(I must be stepping in some dog ish, which prob. explains my luck *LOL*)

Ok, I'll burn some "karma points" and step in this warm pile.
What I see here in Japan is that taller/bigger Japanese-Americans do just fine but those who "blend in" too well don't. All my judo-ka Japanese-American friends never had any problems here, but hardcore wormy otaku did.

I guess when the J-girls come to Hawaii, they want some of that non-Japanese action though. (Japanese Americans in Hawaii are a dime a dozen)
Not to say that non-native Japanese in Hawaii can't get play, it's just that it's more common to see a J-girl with someone of non-Japanese decent nowadays.
