I too am looking forward to it, but it reminds me of "Armageddon" or "The Core"

As for hellboy, I've been fixated on that flick for quite a while. Ever since apple threw it on their trailer server.

Hellboy just looks kinda dumb...maybe after I see it ill change my view.

Hellboy looks like a movie to go see to just watch random shit blow up and people get their asses kicked -- sounds good to me!!

I'm looking forward to The Ring 2, they did a pretty good job on the first one.

The Hellboy comics was just brilliant. Knowing hollywood "adaptation" they're gonna blow it. 100% garantee.

The movie is directed by same guy responsible for Blade 2 if that's not a hint...

Good point plus it has a great name. Anything even remotely related to 'Soul Train' the life changing dance show or 'SoulTrane' the Coltrane classic is gotta be cool. Look at the track record of these kinds of movies: House Party (awesome) Friday (awesome) Breakin' (awesome). Get a bunch of black people together of an airplane, that shit's gonna be funny.

Well that's the thing, these sort of films were funny years and years ago, but now they appear to be especially self-demeaning. Sure the actors figure 'It's a job, I'll get paid', but they are degrading themselves and other blacks. The audience has seen it before-blacks acting the fool. It gets bad when that theme is seen as 'representative'. Hence the name 'SoulPlane'.

Eg, A airline/plane called 'Soul Plane', so it automatically has to be incompetent, fucked up, dope smoking, associated with the ridiculous etc. Is this how blacks see themselves in the US? I don't know. Black people can be pretty funny, but do they realise that they have developed the black persona in comedy associated with traits of ignorance, a lack of sophistication, extreme sleaziness, normalised drug use at some level, and a institutionalised use of ebonics?

This is how the world is getting it's image of black Americans through media images. It's confusing-what is representative, Colin Powell in one corner or Snoop Dog, and Jay Z?

Well they shouldn't think it's that funny because ultimately it's a degrading stereotype. And the audience is over it....

No criticism of AK here at all-he brought up an interesting point to discuss.

Soul Plane could be the worst trailer I've ever seen. The only funny thing about that movie is that there will be some people who will actually go...and some of those people will actually think it's funny. Only in America.
