A clenched fist represents a rock " gu ".

Scissors
Extended index and middle fingers are scissors, called "choki".

Paper
All the fingers spread out represents paper, pa, choki, gu .

And of course the Japanese call pa, choki, gu jan, ken, pon to confuse FGs so they can win.

How did 'janken' come to be?
What is called 'janken' comes from the 'guu, choki, paa' or 'rock, scissors, paper' sansukumi way of thinking. Sansukumi is expounded in the book called the Kan'inshi, which describes how the snake fears the slug, the slug the frog, and the frog the snake. Each of the three parties holds the others in check, so that the three cannot move -- in short, the same relationship as between rock, paper, and scissors.

I have been 'invited' (i.e. 'beckoned') to travel to Osaka for Thursday night's Bowie concert by some VIPS in the Sony empire. I still can't believe it myself, but it is, in fact, all true! And, at this moment, I'm much too overwhelmed and exhausted to explain everything, but tomorrow morning, I AM GOING TO OSAKA!!!

I guess Sony had to bring the Pongi Mirth to Osaka because Bowie's show has no, "theatrics at all." Then again, you might wanna the patented "Taro's Concrete Buttplug(tm) as protection from Bowie who I hear has a thing for aliens.
