Ohhhh, I gotta take a leak. :(
This is near where I sea kayak every summer break during OBON.

Image Ehime reactor leaks 1.6 tons of radioactive coolant water The Japan Times / March 10
MATSUYAMA, Ehime Pref. (Kyodo) About 1.6 tons of radioactive coolant water poured Tuesday morning from a pump at the No. 3 reactor of the Ikata nuclear power plant in Ehime Prefecture, Shikoku Electric Power Co. said.

(*Somebody please tell me what the damn metric word is for 1.6 tons of water that's 1.6 __-liters of water? ))

[EDIT: Err..nevermind. I just realized there's a difference between weight ounces and fluid ounces..... )

Well, you multiply tons by 907.1848 to get its equivalent in kilograms.

Divide that by 100 to get grams.

Multiply it by 0.035 to get ounces.

Multiply THAT by 30 to get mililiters.

Then multiply it by 100 to get liters!

It's simple!!

(Answer: 1619.324868 liters.)

I would have thought that in Japan a ton is a metric ton.

Answer
1600 liters, or 1.6 kiloliters (though I doubt anyone uses that term)

Ahhhh, now I feel better. As I wrote before, the metric counting word is for "1.6 tons of water that's 1.6 __-liters " does not seem to be popular. Now 1,600 liters is 422.675282 gallons [US] which really not much since a bathtub holds about 36 gallons.

But you know, as they say, a little radioactive coolant water goes a long way. Be careful not to fall out of the kayak or you may be competing with bat boy for the cover of Weekly World News.
