A world without America

Postby ramchop » Sat Mar 13, 2004 1:24 pm

No this isn't a jez-like topic. Though running the risk of getting that irritating song lodged in my head again after 4 days recuperation, I need to ask the question.

Does "It's a small world" in L.A.'s Disneyland have the USA included? Or is it an outward looking attraction casting its eye solely on the world outside America.

All I saw in Tokyo Disney was an Indian and a Cowboy waving goodbye at the end (in the everyone together room). And yes I went through the thing an agonizing 4 times so I don't think I blinked and missed America. Also what did Canada do to offend Tokyo Disney?, not a mountie in sight.

8O OK, why did you go through 'It's a small world' 4 times?.

I've been to Tokyo Disney twice and Euro Disney once, and have never been on that ride. Although, I've been on the Haunted Mansion 3 times......I LOVE that building! Cool neo-gothic architecture.

The bastards wouldn't let a 3 year old and a toddler go through unsupervised.

Also at 9:30pm when the boats were empty, they made us get out of the boat, run around the exit/entrance and get back in rather than waving us through. Don't you just love the Japaense?

 Bit of a pain. That would have been fun seeing the place at night though-I haven't seen that. Take your kids again when they are older too-they'll love it.

TOKYO DISNEYLAND! I want to go back again! Some of my best childhood memories are associated with visiting there-it is so much fun for a kid. Maybe if I go again though, it won't seem as great now I'm older? :x :o :cry2:

Hordes of Japanese women in mini-skirts and Minnie Mouse ears. I have a feeling you might like it.

I can tell you from experience: it won't. While growing up I went to Disneyworld in Florida every year until I was about 8. I loved it when I was a kid. Then on a trip to LA a couple years ago a friend of mine insisted on going to Disneyland, and I had a horrible time. No magic, just boredom.

But, I didn't see any Japanese women in miniskirts with mouse ears...I think that alone may be worth the admission. 8O

[quote="cstaylor"]Ask Kamome, he used to live in L.A. ]

I don't have the faintest clue. I've been to Tokyo Disneyland, Anaheim Disneyland, and Disney World in Orlando. I hated all of them as an adult (although they were fun when I was a kid).

The fact that so many Japanese still like Disneyland even as adults is more evidence that many Japanese like to live in a fantasyland. The less they can live in reality, the better. Just ask Captain Japan, who works for a traditional Japanese company with internal practices and policies that don't even approach reality.

Yeah, I've seen these patchwork policies in action too. It's always very funny... but if you go high enough on the chain of command, you get better and better answers (IMO).

I think these strange rules are put in place by buchos and kachos so they don't have to bring up any unpleasant comments to their bosses.

I'm 30 and I love Disney World.

Never been to a D-land.
