But is it art?

Movies, TV, music, anime other random J-pop culture phenomenons. Also film/video production, technical discussion, cast and crew calls, etc.

As previously promised in another topic, here's a sampling of "student culture" from Korea:

The above picture was the worst desk I could find in my school, but here are some of the other contenders for the title:

(detail from the previous shot - recognize)

These two students saw me taking the photos and wanted to do a special piece just for the "exhibit."
(blacked out part is an email address)

Image
Another student wanted to do a custom message as well. Sherlock says this means:
"If me man needle to woman? cap Things Oh"

Image
Not a desk, but the wall. Is nothing sacred in school?

Amusingly, when I was taking the photos, one student got upset and thought I was going to use them to show people that "Korea is dirty." I told him, "no, this is to show that Korean students are dirty." That didn't sit too well, but given the evidnece against them, he's in a tough position to argue from.

I have to say its not that bad pretty tame.

At school I was quite shy but used to love sitting at thoes sort of desks. I would imagne if i could be the kind of person that just did what they feal.

Occasionaly when I was brave I used to continue some previously started work, or highlight the one I liked.

The next time you come to japan and I am still here please unscrew one of thoes desk tops and give it to me. Some are too cool. recognize! do dam right!
Am I still not allowed to have a sig?

I'll probably do that one day next week. There are a few other things I need to cover first.

Unlikely. Despite their tough talk and general disrespect towards foreign teachers, none of mine would ever actually try to fight me or hit me.

In the course of the horsing around I've done at work, it's known that I'm stronger than any of them. (Yes, strength alone will not win a fight, I'm aware of that.) That knowledge is enough to keep them from trying something so monumentally stupid as to hit me in anger.

Plus, they know the school disciplinarian (not me) would beat the everloving shit out of them, and then they'd have to explain to their parents why they're being kicked out of school. (My school is regarded as the best cram school in my town, so having their child unable to attend would royally piss off any parent.)

One thing Koreans don't know how to do is fight. When I lived in Pusan I saw dozens of fist fights. Faggoty salaryman going at it with their sissy shit Tae-Kwon-Do looked like a bunch of drunk ballerinas bitch slapping and dancing around each other. The Russian sailors would knock their shit out with a single punch.

Scribbling is not art. There is some great colourful graffiti art out there - but that ain't it.
