Exactly. This is the reason why China has placed a 17% tariff on chips produced outside of China: they can't steal the production process if they buy the finished product.

Hey, you get what you pay for. Does anyone really think China wants to stay the sweatshop capitol of the world?

These companies sell out the very people that buy their products... it's nearly comical.. I mean you think that the "50 cent an hour worker" really buys those computers, microwaves, DVD players, and so on??? What a joke.

And they are not trying to survive, they are just trying to boost profits... god forbid they flatline on a profit margin..

I'm looking forward to buying my first sub-$200 Beijing Boomer PC. This will work both ways: why should I pad Michael Dell's bottom line when I can buy an equivalent PC from China? 8)

Yeah I hear ya CS. Legend PC for me thanks :D And to be honest I'd say the quality might even been better than Dell considering this is "Homeland Wares" LOL Chinese might work better, harder and faster for a homebrew PC company rather than a Dell or a Gateway operation.
:D

I will never buy a Dell for the simple fact that they outsource their tech support to India.. Why do I have to pay my hard earned to call for help and have to speak to someone who isn't a native speaker of English???? Skirrooo that.

50 cents an hour is pretty close to the average in a city like shanghai for an average worker. actually, it's closer to around 75 cents an hour (1492RMB a month). the difference, is that in china, you can live off of that, feed a family of four, pay rent, and still be able to save some away.

i mean, hell.. we could always have american companies paying them more, inflating the prices in china, screwing up the social order, and making china richer faster... but why?

being able to live off of less than $200 a month is pretty sweet
