Nearly half of all university students in Japan find it difficult to continue studying if they have no part-time job or scholarship, an education ministry survey showed Friday. Of about 37,000 university and postgraduate students responding to the 2002 survey, 47.1% said it is difficult to continue to study only with financial assistance from their families, up from 33.8% in the previous survey in 2000.

And I thought I was the only student who was working...

Nice to see that Japanese college students are also learning a few life lessons as well. :)

Of course, if Japanese college kids (and this applies mostly to the non-science/med majors) realize that college is no longer like SuperFree, what'll happen? The very foundations of Japanese education may crumble...
