Documentaries on Japan's 'economic miracle' to be aired in Mideast

The popular "Project X" series of TV documentaries made by NHK and featuring players behind Japan's economic development will be aired by a satellite broadcasting station that serves 10 countries in the Middle East and North Africa, the Japan Foundation said Tuesday....include stories behind the construction of Shinkansen bullet trains and the development of automatic ticket examiners at railway stations.
"In the Middle East, people are interested in how Japan achieved modernization while keeping intact its traditions at the same time," a foundation official said. "We want viewers to deepen their understanding (of Japan) by watching the roles played" by various people, the official said.
