There are opened-but-new-in-box Link-Sys WiFi routers at places like PC Depot for under 5,000 yen. If you're here in Japan, the "used" section of BIC Camera, SoftMap, PC Depot, etc are now carrying plenty of stuff less than 1-year old because of the new strict computer and electronics recycling law. For example, regular Link_D ethernet routers had be bought at these major retailers for under 1,500yen in the "Used Dept."

thank god for this kind of behavior. same kind of laws exist for autos too, as I understand it. otherwise how the heck could i have gotten a tranny for my '71 240 Z boxed up and crated up from Japan with only 60,000 original miles on it? 8O

I'd look for the 108mbps Wireless routers if I were you.

108mb wireless

Nothing worse than waiting on a file transfer because of the 11mbps limit of 802.11b

:D Even g has a 54mbps limit.

ANd I hear right around the corner there will be a gigabit per second wireless rollout.. if motorola can hop on board... with the new standard.

Heh. I'm running a g card and a b router. I only wish I could blame slow downloads on the router. Maybe someday....
